Cyril IX Moghabghab
Cyril IX Moghabghab (October 29, 1855 in Ain Zhalta, Ottoman Syria – September 8, 1947 in Alexandria, Egypt) served as Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, and Alexandria and Jerusalem of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church from 1925 to 1947. Life Patriarch Cyril was born in Ain Zhalta, Lebanon on October 29, 1855. He was ordained a priest on March 27, 1883. Later, on April 23, 1899, he was elected eparch of Zahlé, Lebanon, confirmed on May 20, 1899 and consecrated eparch on May 28 of the same year by patriarch Peter IV Geraigiry. He was one of the first Melkite bishops to visit the Americas when, in 1904, he came to Brazil. He succeeded Demetrius I Qadi as patriarch of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church on December 8, 1925 and the Pope accepted his request for ecclesiastical communion on June 21, 1926. The Melkite Catholic Patriarchate of Antioch is the only actual residential Patriarchate of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church (Eastern Catholic, Byzantine Rite). It was formed in 1724 when a portion of the Orthodox Church of Antioch went into communion with Rome, becoming an Eastern Catholic Church, while the rest of the ancient Patriarchate continues in full communion with the rest of the Eastern Orthodox Church. The Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarch of Antioch's present complete title is ''Patriarch of Antioch and of All the East, of Alexandria and of Jerusalem of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church'', incorporating both of the church's other titular patriarchates. Maximos V Hakim
Maximos V Hakim ( ar, ماكسيموس الخامس حكيم; May 18, 1908, in Tanta, Egypt – June 29, 2001, Beirut, Lebanon) was elected Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, and Alexandria and Jerusalem of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church in 1967 and served until 2000. He guided the church through turbulent changes in the Middle East and rapid expansion in the Western hemisphere. Life He was born George Selim Hakim at Tanta, Egypt, May 18, 1908, to parents who were originally from Aleppo. He was educated locally and at Le Collège de la Sainte Famille (High School of the Holy Family) Jesuit school in Cairo. After completing his studies at St. Anne of Jerusalem, he was ordained a priest in the Basilica of St. Anne by Maximos IV Sayegh, then Archbishop of Tyre, on July 20, 1930. Agapios Salomon Naoum
Agapios Salomon Naoum, BS (1 August 1882 – 1 May 1967) was Archbishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Archeparchy of Tyre in Lebanon. Life Agapios Naoum was ordained on 8 September 1907 Chaplain of the Melkite Basilian of the Most Holy Redeemer. On 3 November 1933, he was appointed as successor to Archbishop Maximos IV Sayegh to the see of Tyre and on 3 December 1933, by Patriarch Cyril IX Moghabghab was ordained bishop.
