The women's team sprint at the 2022 Commonwealth Games was part of the cycling programme, and took place on 29 July 2022. Records This is the first Commonwealth Games in which the women's team sprint will be contested under the new format of three riders racing 750m, so there is no existing Games record. Lee Valley VeloPark
Lee Valley VeloPark is a cycling centre on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, London, England. It is owned and managed by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, and it was opened to the public in March 2014. The facility was one of the permanent venues for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Lee Valley VeloPark is at the northern end of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It has a velodrome and BMX racing track, which have been used for the Games, as well as a one-mile (1.6 km) road course and 5 miles (8 km) of mountain bike trails. The park replaces the Eastway Cycle Circuit demolished to make way for it. The facilities built for the Olympics were constructed between 2009 and 2011. Lusia Steele (born 21 June 2000) is a Scottish racing cyclist. Biography Steele starting riding for her local club, the Johnstone Jets in 2008. In 2016, Steele won seven Scottish titles during the year. In late November of that year, Steele took part in the Scottish Cycling Performance Programme, as part of her preparation to move up to the junior level. In August 2018, Steele made her debut for the British team at the 2018 UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships in Switzerland. Out of the fourteen riders, she was the only Scottish cyclist on the team for the Championships. Sophie Capewell
Sophie Capewell (born 4 September 1998) is a British professional racing cyclist. She comes from a cycling family, with her father, the late Nigel Capewell representing Great Britain at the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games. She competed in the women's sprint at the 2020 World Championships in Berlin. Capewell then went on to win bronze in the team sprint at the 2021 World Championships in Roubaix, France. Capewell was selected for the England team for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
