Cycling At The 2020 Summer Paralympics – Men's Time Trial B
The men's time trial class B track cycling event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics took place on 28 August 2021 in the Izu Velodrome, Japan. This class is for the cyclist who is blind or has visual impairments, they will then ride with tandem bicycles together with a sighted cyclist (also known as the pilot). There will be 10 pairs from 9 different nations competing. Competition format The 10 pairs are placed into their own heats individually (1 heat including 1 pair) where they will then do a time trial basis where the fastest pair would win gold, 2nd fastest a silver, and 3rd fastest a bronze. Izu Velodrome
The Izu Velodrome is a velodrome in Shizuoka, Japan. It has a 250-metre cycling track and spectator facilities for 3,600 people. It was opened in 2011, and was selected as the venue to host the track cycling events at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Éamonn Byrne is an Irish track cyclist, who has represented his country at the Para-cycling Track World Championships. Early life Éamonn Byrne grew up in Darndale in Dublin, the eldest of five children. He played soccer and participating in athletics, where he won medals for sprint events. After schooling he became a Dublin-based Garda SÃochána (police) officer and began rowing for the Garda Rowing team. At age 26, he changed sporting focus to cycling. Martin Gordon (born 3 May 1954) is an English musician who plays bass guitar, double bass, and piano. After a long period as band member and session musician, he embarked on a solo career in 2004. His most recent album release was in 2021. Biography Martin Gordon was born in Ipswich, and grew up Hitchin, Hertfordshire. He studied piano and classical guitar as a child, attended summer schools hosted by the British National Jazz Youth Orchestra, where he took lessons from Nucleus bassist Jeff Clyne and later studied harmony and counterpoint. Gordon began his musical career in the 1970s with the Californian pop brothers Ron Mael and Russell Mael in Sparks, who were seeking a bassist after their relocation to the UK. Gordon played with Sparks on the album ''Kimono My House'', which featured his trademark Rickenbacker 4001 bass.
