Cycle Republic
Cycle Republic was a British cycle retailer. The first store was opened in London's Euston Tower on 12 December 2014. The company's shop estate included 20 shops and an ecommerce website operation with UK-wide delivery. Late in 2017, the company's flagship store in Canary Wharf was opened by Olympian Victoria Pendleton. The company has since ceased trading under the name Cycle Republic and merged with another Halfords owned subdivision called Tredz because of greater profit margins. Extended warranties given by Cycle Republic are being upheld by Halfords. In addition to bicycles, Cycle Republic sold e-bikes, cycling clothing, bike components and bike accessories. Victoria Pendleton
Victoria Louise Pendleton, (born 24 September 1980) is a British jockey and former track cyclist who specialised in the sprint, team sprint and keirin disciplines. She is a former Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth champion. With two Olympic gold medals and one silver, Pendleton is one of Great Britain's most successful female Olympians. Pendleton represented Great Britain and England in international cycling competition, winning nine world titles including a record six in the individual sprint, dominating the event between 2005 and 2012. In 2008 she won the sprint in the Beijing Olympics, and in 2012, she won the gold medal in the keirin at the London Olympics, as well as silver in the sprint. Halfords Group PLC is the UK's largest retailer of motoring and cycling products and services. Through Halfords Autocentre, they provide vehicle servicing, MOT, maintenance and repairs in the United Kingdom. Halfords Group is listed on the London Stock Exchange. History Halfords was founded by Frederick Rushbrooke, in Birmingham in 1892, as a wholesale ironmongery. The company takes its name from Halford Street in Leicester, where Rushbrooke opened a store in 1902 and started selling cycling goods. Halfords opened its two hundredth store in 1931, and purchased the Birmingham Bicycle Company in 1945. It opened its three hundredth store in 1968.
