Cuyo (Argentina)
Cuyo is the wine-producing, mountainous region of central-west Argentina. Historically it comprised the provinces of San Juan, San Luis and Mendoza. The modern New Cuyo includes both Cuyo proper and the province of La Rioja. New Cuyo is a political and economic macroregion, but culturally La Rioja is part of the North-West rather than of Cuyo. Cuyo has some of the most popular tourist attractions in Argentina and the highest mountain massifs in the Andes, including Aconcagua itself, the highest peak outside Asia, and the Ischigualasto Provincial Park. The soil is arid and reddish, crossed by few rivers. Most of the rivers are fed by the thawing of snow on the peaks, and their volume of water increases considerably in spring. The Desaguadero River is the main collector, receiving waters from the Bermejo, Vinchina and Salado before reaching the Colorado River. Viticulture is one of the main activities of the area. Cuyo Province
The Province of Cuyo was a historical province of Argentina. Created on 14 November 1813 by a decree issued by the Second Triumvirate, it had its capital in Mendoza, and was composed of the territories of the present-day Argentine provinces of Mendoza, San Juan and San Luis. For centuries in colonial times, the region was part of the Captaincy General of Chile, which at the time formed part of the Viceroyalty of Peru. In 1778, the territories under the jurisdiction of Santiago de Chile were divided: Cuyo was transferred to the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata, the last Viceroyalty of the Spanish Empire, created a short time before (in 1776) with its capital in Buenos Aires, while the territories of the Captaincy General of Chile lying west of the Andes remained part of the Viceroyalty of Peru. Cuyo, Palawan
Cuyo, officially the Municipality of Cuyo ( cyo, Banwa 'ang Cuyo, tgl, Bayan ng Cuyo), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Palawan, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 23,489 people. Its territory includes the western half of Cuyo Island, as well as Bisucay, Caponayan, Cauayan, Imalaguan, Lubid, Manamoc, Pamalican, Pandan, Round, and Quiminatin islands, all part of the Cuyo Archipelago. Cuyo Airport is an airport serving the municipalities of Magsaysay, Cuyo, and Agutaya. It is located within the boundaries of Barangay Lucbuan and Emilod in the town of Magsaysay in the main island of Cuyo Island. Retrieved 2008-10-11.
