Cutter John
Cutter John is a fictional character in the 1980s comic strip ''Bloom County'' by Berke Breathed. Cutter, a Vietnam War veteran using a wheelchair due to paraplegia from a war injury, was one of the county's most well-liked citizens. Despite being somewhat childish and awkward at times, he was very popular with the ladies, particularly schoolteacher Bobbi Harlow. His aging mother, who visited on December 9, 1982, still called him 'Pumpkin'. Cutter also was a good friend to many of the animal characters of Bloom County, often role-playing ''Star Trek'' with them (using his wheelchair as the "Enterpoop"): in the reboot, they engage in ''Star Wars'' roleplay (aboard the recumbently configured ''Aluminum Falcon''). Bloom County
''Bloom County'' is an American comic strip by Berkeley Breathed which originally ran from December 8, 1980, until August 6, 1989. It examined events in politics and culture through the viewpoint of a fanciful small town in Middle America, where children often have adult personalities and vocabularies and where animals can talk. On July 12, 2015, Breathed started drawing ''Bloom County'' again. The first revived strip was published via Facebook on July 13, 2015. Publication history and production ''Bloom County'' originated from a comic strip known as ''The Academia Waltz'', which Breathed produced for ''The Daily Texan'', the student newspaper of the University of Texas. The comic strip attracted the notice of the editors of ''The Washington Post'', who recruited him to do a nationally syndicated strip. Opus The Penguin
Opus the Penguin (Opus T. Penguin) is a fictional character created by artist Berkeley Breathed. Breathed has described him as an "existentialist penguin" and the favorite of his many characters. Opus has appeared in several of Breathed's creations, most notably his 1980s comic strip ''Bloom County''. Breathed also included Opus in the sequel strip to ''Bloom County'', '' Outland'', and later made him the star of his own self-titled strip. Introduction and appearance Opus was originally introduced in June 1981, as a one-time gag about hapless Mike Binkley bringing home what he thought was a German Shepherd, which turned out to be a penguin, much to the disappointment of his father. A cameo role, also called a cameo appearance and often shortened to just cameo (), is a brief appearance of a well-known person in a work of the performing arts. A bong (also known as a water pipe) is a filtration device generally used for smoking cannabis, tobacco, or other herbal substances. In the bong shown in the photo, the gas flows from the lower port on the left to the upper port on the right. In construction and function, a bong is similar to a hookah, except smaller and especially more portable. ''The Academia Waltz'' was Berkeley Breathed's first comic strip, published daily from 1978 to 1979 in ''The Daily Texan'' at The University of Texas at Austin, where he was a student. The strip focused primarily on college life, although it sometimes made references to big news stories of the time (such as the Three Mile Island accident in 1979). Bill the Cat, or Bill D. Cat, is a fictional cat appearing in the works of cartoonist Berkeley Breathed, beginning with the comic strip ''Bloom County'' in the 1980s and continuing in '' Outland'' and ''Opus'' in the following decades.
