Curtis Robertson Jr.
Curtis Robertson Jr. (born 1953) is an American bassist, guitarist and songwriter. He was once married to former Motown singer Syreeta, the former wife of Stevie Wonder. Curtis was influential in the development of Syreeta's music and recorded and co-wrote music with Syreeta. Curtis also toured with the Les McCann/Eddie Harris Band, Robben Ford, Maxine Weldon, Steve Hillage, Randy Crawford, Gary Bartz, Gladys Knight and recorded with Bobby "Blue" Bland, Gary Bartz, Freddie Hubbard, David T. Walker, and Richard Thompson. Between 1990 and 2005, Curtis was the bassist for Lou Rawls. Like with Syreeta, he helped shape the music for which Rawls would become known. Curtis lives in the Los Angeles area where he freelances as a musician. He is currently a member of vocalist Nailah Porter's band and also the hard bop CJS Quintet. Syreeta Wright (February 28, 1946 – July 6, 2004), who recorded professionally under the single name Syreeta, was an American singer-songwriter, best known for her music during the early 1970s through the early 1980s. Wright's career heights were songs in collaboration with her ex-husband Stevie Wonder and musical artist Billy Preston. Biography Early life and career Wright was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, in 1946, and started singing at the age of four. Her father served in the Korean War and Wright and her sister Kim were raised by their mother Essie and their grandmother. The Wrights moved back and forth from Detroit to South Carolina, before finally settling in Detroit just as Wright entered high school. It serves as her first album Wright released where former husband Stevie Wonder did not oversee most of its production, instead only being involved with the song "Harmour Love", which was released as a single. Freddie Hubbard
Frederick Dewayne Hubbard (April 7, 1938 – December 29, 2008) was an American jazz trumpeter. He played bebop, hard bop, and post-bop styles from the early 1960s onwards. His unmistakable and influential tone contributed to new perspectives for modern jazz and bebop. Career beginnings Hubbard started playing the mellophone and trumpet in his school band at Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. Trumpeter Lee Katzman, former sideman with Stan Kenton, recommended that he begin studying at the Arthur Jordan Conservatory of Music (now the Jordan College of the Arts at Butler University) with Max Woodbury, the principal trumpeter of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
