Currumbin Eagles
Formed in 1976 as the Currumbin Football Club, the Currumbin Eagles compete in both the junior and senior Gold Coast Rugby League competitions. The club is based at the Merv Craig Sporting Complex in Currumbin Waters, Queensland and the club's Gold Coast Titans Ambassadors are Jahrome Hughes, Albert Kelly and William Zillman. Coast The Eagles were formed by brothers John and Mervin Hall, Beth Hall, Elaine Markwell and John and Kay Turner. John Hall served as the club’s inaugural President with Beth Hall as Secretary and Elaine Markwell as Treasurer. Using the Currumbin primary school ground as their home ground the club originally played in the Tweed Group 18 competition as there was no equivalent Gold Coast league. The club then moved to the PBC oval having to construct their own goal posts. Once the Gold Coast league was formed the Eagles were required to play north of the boarder. Xavier Coates (born 12 March 2001) is a Papua New Guinea international rugby league footballer who plays as a er for the Melbourne Storm in the NRL. He previously played for the Brisbane Broncos. He has played for Queensland in the State of Origin series. Early life Coates was born in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea to a mother from the Gulf Province in PNG and an Australian father. As an infant he moved with his family to Australia and initially spent two years living in Cairns before settling on the Gold Coast. He attended Marymount College throughout his upbringing and began pursuing an athletics career in primary school. Currumbin ( ) is a coastal suburb in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. In the , Currumbin had a population of 2,920 people. Geography The suburb extends from Currumbin Creek in the north to Wyberba Street in the south. The Pacific Motorway bounds the suburb to the west and the Coral Sea to the east. The Gold Coast Highway enters the suburb from the north ( Palm Beach) and exits to the south ( Tugun). Penrith Panthers
The Penrith Panthers are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the western Sydney suburb of Penrith that competes in the NRL. The team is based west of the centre of Sydney, at the foot of the Blue Mountains. Penrith are the current reigning NRL Premiers, having won the title four times. Currumbin Waters is a suburb in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It borders New South Wales. In the , Currumbin Waters had a population of 9,121 people. Geography Currumbin Waters is bounded to the south by the Queensland border with New South Wales, to the east by the Pacific Motorway, to the north by Guineas Creek Road, and to the west by Simpsons Road and Piggabeen Road. Melbourne Storm
The Melbourne Storm are a rugby league club based in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia that participates in the National Rugby League. The first fully professional rugby league team based in the state, the Storm entered the competition in 1998. The Storm were originally a Super League initiative, created in 1997 during the Super League war, however, following the Super League collapse, the team became a part of the newly formed, united competition. The club play their home games at AAMI Park. The Storm have won four premierships since their inception, in 1999, 2012, 2017 and 2020, and have contested several more grand finals, but were stripped of the 2007 and 2009 premierships following salary cap breaches.
