Current River Cavern
Current River Cavern is a show cave located in one mile west of Van Buren, MO on U.S. Route 60 in Missouri, U.S. Route 60. The cave is located inside Cave Spring Park. The cave was first opened as a show cave in 1940 under the name "Cave Spring Onyx Caverns". Current River Cavern was formed exclusively by the stream that still runs through the cave; a rarity among Missouri caves. The cave is set in the Eminence Formation, Eminence Dolomite. Van Buren, MO
Van Buren is a city in Carter County, Missouri, United States. It is the county seat and largest city in Carter County. Van Buren was founded in 1833 as the county seat of Ripley County and was named after then Vice President of the United States, Martin Van Buren. In 1859, Van Buren became a part of the newly created Carter County and was subsequently selected to be the county seat. The 2020 U.S. Census showed Van Buren with a population of 747. History In 1833, a commission appointed for the purpose of choosing a site for the county seat of Ripley County selected a site west and across Current River from the present location of Van Buren.
