Curly Chalker
Harold Lee Chalker (October 22, 1931 – April 30, 1998), known professionally as Curly Chalker, was an American pedal steel guitarist. Born in Enterprise, Alabama, Chalker began playing the lap steel guitar while still in his teens and made his professional debut in the nightclubs of Cincinnati, Ohio. As a sideman In the 1950s, Chalker was touring Texas with Lefty Frizzell, replacing C.B. White, and played on the Frizzell cuts, "Always Late (With Your Kisses)" and "Mom and Dad's Waltz" (both in 1951). Chalker played dobro on these recordings. Chalker then joined Hank Thompson's Brazos Valley Boys, and was featured on the 1952 cuts, "Cryin' in the Deep Blue Sea" and "The Wild Side of Life". After two years in the US armed forces, Chalker joined the Springfield, Missouri-based ''Ozark Jubilee'' ABC Radio and TV series for several years, backing Red Foley and Porter Wagoner. Enterprise, Alabama
Enterprise is a city in the southeastern part of Coffee County and the southwestern part of Dale County in Southeastern Alabama, United States. Its population was 28,711 at the 2020 census. Enterprise is the primary city of the Enterprise micropolitan statistical area (with the portion of the city in Dale County part of the Ozark micropolitan statistical area). ''Hee Haw'' is an American television variety show featuring country music and humor with the fictional rural "Kornfield Kounty" as the backdrop. It aired first-run on CBS from 1969 to 1971, in syndication from 1971 to 1993, and on TNN from 1996 to 1997. Reruns of the series were broadcast on RFD-TV from September 2008 to April 2020, and aired on Circle. The show was inspired by ''Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In'', but centered on country music, rural rather than pop culture-inspired humor, and with far less topical material. Chinga Chavin is the stage name of American musician and advertising executive Nathan Allen "Nick" Chavin. Chavin released the album ''Country Porn'' in 1976 on Attic Records. Life and career Nick "Chinga" Chavin was born in 1944. He achieved considerable notoriety when he recorded and released the raunchy comedy album ''Country Porn'' in 1976. It was sold through the mail by ''Penthouse'' magazine and sold over 100,000 units. ''Country Porn'' was reissued on CD in 1992 with liner notes, a booklet complete with song lyrics and photographs, and four bonus songs. Track 2 of the album is a song Chavin wrote with friend Kinky Friedman, the comedic "Asshole from El Paso," a blithely vulgar parody of the country classic "Okie From Muskogee" by Merle Haggard. Eldon Shamblin (April 24, 1916 – August 5, 1998) was an American guitarist and arranger, particularly important to the development of Western swing music as one of the first electric guitarists in a popular dance band. He was a member of The Strangers during the 1970s and 1980s. Career In his teens, Shamblin learned about guitar by analyzing the techniques of Eddie Lang. He performed in clubs in Oklahoma City and on his radio show as singer and guitarist. During the 1930s, he spent three years as a member of the Alabama Boys, a Western swing band. Joe Venuti
Giuseppe "Joe" Venuti (September 16, 1903 – August 14, 1978) was an American jazz musician and pioneer jazz violinist. Considered the father of jazz violin, he pioneered the use of string instruments in jazz along with the guitarist Eddie Lang, a friend since childhood. Through the 1920s and early 1930s, Venuti and Lang made many recordings as leader and as featured soloists. He and Lang became so well known for their 'hot' violin and guitar solos that on many commercial dance recordings they were hired to do 12- or 24-bar duos towards the end of otherwise stock dance arrangements. Bill Haley And The Comets
Bill Haley & His Comets were an American rock and roll band founded in 1947 that continued until Haley's death in 1981. The band was also known as Bill Haley and the Comets and Bill Haley's Comets. From late 1954 to late 1956, the group record nine Top 20 singles, one of which was number one and three that were Top Ten. The single " Rock Around the Clock" was the best-selling rock single in the history of the genre and maintained that position for several years.
