Curling At The 2016 Winter Youth Olympics
Curling at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics was contested at the Kristins Hall in Lillehammer, Norway from 12 to 21 February. The mixed team event took place from 12 to 17 February, while the mixed doubles tournament took place from 19 to 21 February. The Athlete Role Model for the Youth Olympics curling competition was Rasmus Stjerne of Denmark. There was a mixed team curling tournament and a mixed doubles curling tournament. Mixed team curling The mixed team curling teams consisted of two boys and two girls from the same NOC/country. The sixteen qualified teams competed in two divisions of round robin play. Kristins Hall
Eidsiva Arena, also known as Kristins Hall, is an arena located at Stampesletta in Lillehammer, Norway. It consist of an ice rink, a combined handball and floorball court, and a curling rink. The venue, owned and operated by the Lillehammer Municipality, opened in 1988 and cost 65 million Norwegian krone (NOK) to build. One of the motivations for its construction was to help Lillehammer's bid to be selected as the host of the 1994 Winter Olympics. The ice rink has a capacity for 3,194 spectators and is the home rink of GET-ligaen hockey club Lillehammer IK. Eidsiva Arena is located next to the larger Håkons Hall, which opened in 1993. During the 1994 Winter Olympics, Kristins Hall was a training rink, and subsequently hosted the ice sledge hockey tournament at the 1994 Winter Paralympics. Selina Witschonke
Selina Witschonke (born December 17, 1998) is a Swiss curler originally from St. Moritz. She currently plays second on Team Silvana Tirinzoni. Career In 2016, Witschonke was named to the Swiss team for the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics in Lillehammer. Through the round robin, she led her team of third Henwy Lochmann, second Laura Engler and lead Philipp Hösli to a 6–1 record, finishing second in their pool. They then beat Sweden's Johan Nygren 7–3 in the quarterfinals before dropping the semifinal 7–5 to Canada's Mary Fay. They won the bronze medal with an 11–3 defeat over Russia's Nadezhda Karelina. In the mixed doubles discipline, Witschonke competed with Estonia's Jarl Guštšin. After winning their first two games, the team lost in the quarterfinals to China's Han Yu and Great Britain's Ross Whyte. This is a glossary of terms in curling. #s During a game, sweepers might call out numbers. These numbers indicate how far the sweepers think the rock in play will travel. This system is relatively new to the game and is often attributed to the Randy Ferbey rink since they were the first major team to use the system, but it is not known whose idea it originally was. 1 to 3 indicates a rock in the free guard zone, 4 to 6 the rings in front of the tee line, 7 being on the button, and 8 to 10 the rings behind the tee line. Sometimes, 11 is used to indicate a stone thrown so that it passes through the house and out of play. Han Yu (, born October 6, 2000 in Beijing, China) is a Chinese female curler. Career Han represented China at the 2019 World Junior Curling Championships throwing fourth stones for Jiang Jiayi.
