Curling At The 2014 Winter Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's curling tournament of the 2014 Winter Olympics was held at the Ice Cube Curling Center in Sochi, Russia on 10–21 February 2014. Ten nations competed in a round robin preliminary round, and the top four nations at the conclusion of the round robin qualified for the medal round. Ice Cube Curling Center
The Ice Cube Curling Center ( rus, Керлинговый Центр Ледяной куб) is a 3,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Sochi, Russia, that opened in 2012. It is a component of the Sochi Olympic Park. It hosted all the curling events at the 2014 Winter Olympics and the wheelchair curling events at the 2014 Winter Paralympics. It cost $14.0 million to build the venue, including the temporary works for the Olympics and Paralympics. It opened in 2012. After the 2014 games, it will remain a sports arena. Liu Rui
Liu Rui (; born March 13, 1982 in Harbin, Heilongjiang; sometimes known as Rui Lui) is a Chinese curler. He was the skip of the Chinese men's Olympic Curling Team at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Liu played in his first World Curling Championships in 2008, playing third for Fengchun Wang. The team lost in the bronze medal game to Norway, settling for fourth place. After a slow start in the 2009 Ford World Men's Curling Championship, Liu switched to throw 4th stones while skip Fengchun Wang continued to call the game and throw 3rd stones. The team struggled, placing 9th. The team represented China at the 2010 Winter Olympics, with Liu throwing last rocks and Wang continuing to skip. The team finished 8th with a 2-7 record. Curling Club Hamburg
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. He made his world championship debut at the 2001 Lausanne World Championships with a team skippered by Johnny Frederiksen. At the 2009 Moncton World Championships his team placed fifth with a 5–6 record. Troels Harry
Troels Harry (born 25 December 1990) is a Danish curler. He is a former world junior champion and current Danish champion. Career Harry has represented Denmark in four World Junior Championships. He played lead for Rasmus Stjerne in 2007 and 2008, finishing fourth and seventh, respectively. In 2009, Denmark, with Harry as lead under Stjerne, made the playoffs. They were defeated by Canada in the page 1 vs. 2 game, but rebounded with a win over the United States in the semifinal and defeated Canada in the final to win the gold medal. Harry played at the lead position under Mikkel Krause at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships, but finished in eight place. Mikkel Adrup Poulsen (born 17 October 1984 in Hvidovre) is an internationally elite curler from Denmark. He made his world championship debut at the 2008 World Championships in Grand Forks, North Dakota, U.S. He also competed at the 2009 Moncton World Championships. Both times Mikkel Poulsen served as the Alternate for Team Denmark. The team has qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics where Poulsen will again fill the Alternate position for the Danish team. Johnny Frederiksen
Johnny Frederiksen (born 31 July 1975 in Hvidovre) is a Danish curler from Copenhagen. He is the skip of the men's Danish national team. Frederiksen skipped Denmark at three World Junior Curling Championships (1994, 1995, 1996), two European Curling Championships (2006, 2007) and five World Curling Championships (2001, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008). Frederiksen's best performance at the World Championships was a 2nd-place finish in 2016. Frederiksen skipped the Danish team to a bronze medal at the 2007 European Curling Championships. Rasmus Stjerne
Rasmus Stjerne Hansen (born 26 May 1988 in Hvidovre) is a retired Danish curler. He is a former world junior champion and current Danish champion. He curls out of the Hvidovre Curling Club. Career Stjerne has participated in five World Junior Championships. He played as third for Kenneth Jørgensen in 2004 and 2005, finishing outside of the playoffs in both years. He then skipped his own team at the World Juniors in 2006, 2007, and 2008, finishing fifth, fourth, and seventh, respectively. Then, in the 2009 World Junior Curling Championships, Stjerne and his team made the playoffs as the second-ranked team. Hvidovre is the main town in Hvidovre Municipality, Denmark. The town, a suburb of Copenhagen, is about 10 km southwest of the capital's center. It is the 2nd biggest suburb of Copenhagen, only beaten by Frederiksberg. History Hvidovre has been inhabited since prehistoric times. In 1929, a 3,500-year-old sword from the Bronze Age was excavated in Hvidovre. Zou Dejia
Zou Dejia (; born April 7, 1983) is a Chinese curler from Harbin. Career In 2007, Zou skipped the Chinese team at the 2007 Winter Universiade. The rink finished with a 4–5 record, missing the medal round and placing fifth. Zou's second international event was at the 2011 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship where he and team mate Li Xue represented China. The pair finished the round robin with a 5–2 record, and won their qualification game against Finland to make the playoffs. However, they lost in the quarter-final to Sweden. In 2012, Zou became the skip of the second Chinese team on the World Curling Tour. His first WCT tour event win as a skip came at the 2012 Horizon Laser Vision Center Classic where he beat Brent Gedak in the final. That year Zou became the alternate on the Chinese national team (skipped by Liu Rui), while skipping his own team on the World Curling Tour.
