"Cured" is the first episode of ''Red Dwarf XII'' and the 68th in the series run. Originally broadcast on the British television channel Dave on 12 October 2017, it was made available early on 5 October 2017 on UKTV Play. The crew happen upon an abandoned research facility where several infamous figures from history reside, supposedly "cured" of their evil. Synopsis The crew play a game of poker, with Lister attempting to teach Cat how to have a proper poker face, but Cat failing to understand. Kryten interrupts to report on a resource-rich station to scavenge, which the crew head off towards onboard ''Starbug'', which requires an elaborate start-up sequence to work due to its state of disrepair. A powerful sandstorm leaves them temporarily stranded there. The crew venture through the base, encountering "cyrobooths" bearing the names of Messalina, Vlad the Impaler, Joseph Stalin, and Adolf Hitler. ''Red Dwarf'' is a British science fiction comedy franchise created by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, which primarily consists of a television sitcom that aired on BBC Two between 1988 and 1999, and on Dave since 2009, gaining a cult following. The series follows low-ranking technician Dave Lister, who awakens after being in suspended animation for three million years to find that he is the last living human, and that he is alone on the mining spacecraft ''Red Dwarf''—save for a hologram his deceased bunkmate Arnold Rimmer and "Cat", a life form which evolved from Lister's pregnant cat. As of 2020, the cast includes Chris Barrie as Rimmer, Craig Charles as Lister, Danny John-Jules as Cat, Robert Llewellyn as the sanitation droid Kryten, and Norman Lovett as the ship's computer, Holly.
