Cultural Olympiad Digital Edition
The Cultural Olympiad Digital Edition, or CODE, was a digital art showcase at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. The festival, which lasted from February 4 to 21, was the first of its kind at a major sporting event, showcasing the new digital media styles in art, music, and film. First conceived in 2007, the growth of social networking sites contributed to the eventual popularity of the event. One of the installations, Vectorial Elevation (a spotlight-based light installation over Vancouver's English bay), had over 20,000 individual design submissions. CODE Live was curated by digital artist Malcolm Levy. An olympiad ( el, Ὀλυμπιάς, ''Olympiás'') is a period of four years, particularly those associated with the ancient and modern Olympic Games. Dave Huismans (born 1979), better known by his stage name 2562, is a musician from The Hague, Netherlands. Huismans bought his first laptop dedicated for music production in 2003 despite not knowing how to read musical notation. Having previously released records of various musical styles under the monikers A Made Up Sound and Dogdaze, Huismans created 2562, under which his output is generally described as dubstep Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London in the early 2000s. Bell Orchestre
Bell Orchestre is a six-piece instrumental band from Montreal. It was formed in 1999 by multi-instrumentalist Richard Parry and violinist Sarah Neufeld. Both also joined Arcade Fire. They were joined in Bell Orchestre by Michael Feuerstack (steel guitar), Stefan Schneider (drums/percussion), Pietro Amato (French horn/electronics), and Kaveh Nabatian (trumpet/melodica). Thomas Michael Shannon (born July 15, 1939) is an American former professional baseball infielder / outfielder who spent his entire Major League Baseball (MLB) career playing for the St. Louis Cardinals (–). Shannon worked as a Cardinals radio broadcaster from 1972 to 2021. Shannon was raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and was an integral part of some of the Cards’ most successful seasons, during the 1960s. The Golden Filter is an American/Australian electronic music duo from New York City, formed in 2008, now based in London. The band consists of Penelope Trappes and Stephen Hindman. History Lead singer Penelope Trappes grew up in Lismore, near Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia, while analogue synth programmer and producer Stephen Hindman is originally from Ohio, United States. They produced their debut single, "Solid Gold", in July 2008, after being influenced by italo mix CDs given to them by Josh Cheon (Dark Entries records).
