Cultural Heritage Park
The Cultural Heritage Park (CHP; ) is a multifunctional park in South District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The buildings in the park were originally built in 1916 as brewery factory during the Japanese rule of Taiwan. After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, the area was taken over by Taiwan Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau. It continued the brewing business until the urban sprawl of Taichung City forced the factory production to relocate in 1998. The area was then left abandoned. In 2002, the Taichung City Government designated 16 out of 28 buildings in the area as historic monuments. In 2007, the Council for Cultural Affairs took over the area and initiated redevelopment works. Two year later in 2009, it was opened to the public as the Taichung Cultural and Creative Industries Park for art exhibition and performance venue. Taichung City Government
The Taichung City Government () is the municipal government of Taichung, Taiwan. History Taichū City Government was established by the Governor-General of Taiwan and the Japanese colonial authorities on 1 October 1920. Following the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China, Taichung had been reconstituted as a provincial city government on 25 October 1945. Taichung City merged with Taichung County to become a special municipality on 25 December 2010. Building The first Taichung city hall, known as Taichung Shiyakusho, was constructed in 1911, when Taiwan was under Japanese rule. It has been turned into a cultural center since 2016. Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) is a railway operator in Taiwan. It is an agency of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, responsible for managing, maintaining, and running conventional passenger and freight railway services on 1097 km of track in Taiwan. Taichung Railway Station
Taichung station () is a railway station in Taichung, Taiwan served by Taiwan Railways Administration. It is served by all TRA services along the route. History The station was originally constructed in 1905 in a wooden building architectural style and started its operation in 1908. In 1917, it was rebuilt as a red brick structure with Renaissance architectural style. On 16 October 2016, the elevated station was inaugurated in which the ground-level station was shut down. The first train that arrived at the elevated station was at 06:28. Urban sprawl (also known as suburban sprawl or urban encroachment) is defined as "the spreading of urban developments (such as houses and shopping centers) on undeveloped land near a city." Urban sprawl has been described as the unrestricted growth in many urban areas of housing, commercial development, and roads over large expanses of land, with little concern for urban planning. In addition to describing a special form of urbanization, the term also relates to the social and environmental consequences associated with this development. Medieval suburbs suffered from loss of protection of city walls, before the advent of industrial warfare.
