Cudgen Hornets
The Cudgen Rugby League Football Club, more commonly known as the Cudgen Hornets, was formed in 1950 and plays at Ned Byrne Field at Kingscliff. It competes in the Gold Coast Rugby League. Cudgen Hornets Seniors compete in the Gold Coast/Tweed Bycroft Cup and fields teams in the age groups of Under 17's, Under 19's, Reserve Grade, and First Grade. The Cudgen Juniors compete in the New South Wales Group 18 competition from under 7's through to under 16's. Cudgen RLFC
Cudgen () is a town located in north-eastern New South Wales, Australia, in the Tweed Shire. It is built on the former land of the Coodjingburra clan of the Minyungbal. Gateshead Thunder (1999)
Gateshead Thunder was a professional rugby league club founded in 1999 in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England, which competed in the 1999 Super League but then merged with Hull Sharks after only one season. To retain rugby league in Gateshead, a new Gateshead Thunder club (now Newcastle Thunder) played in Gateshead from 2001 until 2014. History In 1998, Gateshead were officially granted a franchise in the Super League ahead of bids from Swansea and Cardiff. The club was named Gateshead Thunder, the name chosen in a contest, with Shaun McRae as head coach. Fan attendance in the early part of the season was poor, but rose to 3,895 by season's end. Wests Tigers
The Wests Tigers are an Australian professional Rugby league, rugby league football team, based in the Inner West and South West Sydney. They have competed in the National Rugby League since being formed at the end of the 1999 NRL season as a joint-venture club between the Balmain Tigers and the Western Suburbs Magpies. The Wests Tigers started playing in the 2000 NRL season and they won their maiden premiership in 2005 NRL season, 2005. It is one of only two clubs (the other being the Newcastle Knights) that has never lost a Grand Final in which it has participated. The North Sydney Bears is an Australian rugby league football club based in North Sydney, New South Wales. The club competes in the New South Wales Cup, having exited the National Rugby League following the 1999 NRL season after 90 years in the premier rugby league competition in Australia. Matt Seers (born 28 June 1974) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He played for the North Sydney Bears, Wests Tigers and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, as a or . Club career Seers played his junior football with Cudgen Hornets before becoming a student of St Gregory's College, Campbelltown for his senior years of high school. He was an Australian Secondary Schoolboys Representative in 1992. On the 29 August 1993, Seers made his first grade début against South Sydney coming off the bench in a 36-16 victory at the Sydney Football Stadium. In 1994, Seers' talent kept experienced fullback Greg Barwick in reserve grade and, in 1994, forced the club's star signing, Manly-Warringah fullback Ivan Cleary, into the centres. The Western Suburbs Magpies (legal name: Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club Ltd) are an Australian rugby league football club based in the western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales. Formed in 1908, Wests, as they are commonly referred to, were one of the nine foundation clubs of the first New South Wales Rugby League competition in Australia. The Illawarra Steelers are an Australian rugby league football club based in the city of Wollongong, New South Wales. The club competed in Australia's top-level rugby league competition from 1982 until 1998. Bill Dunn (born 23 September 1967) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for Cronulla, Illawarra and the Western Suburbs. Biography A forward, Dunn played his football mostly as a second-row or prop. He went to high school in Tweed Heads and was an Australian Schoolboys representative player in 1985. Dunn made only seven first-grade appearances during his time at Cronulla but received more regular games when he switched to Illawarra for the 1991 season.
