Cuala GAA club (or ''Cuala GAC'', ) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Dalkey in the south of County Dublin, Ireland. It fields teams in Dublin GAA competitions. Cuala is primarily based in a sports and social centre in Dalkey, and also has playing facilities in Glenageary, Meadow Vale/Clonkeen Park, Shankill and Sallynoggin. The club name derives from Cualu or Cuala, an ancient kingdom of Ireland that stretched roughly from the Liffey to Arklow. History The club won consecutive All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championships in 2017 and 2018. The club replaced the Davy Group of stockbrokers as its jersey sponsor with biotech company Amgen in 2019 as part of a deal that attracted notice outside the area. Huawei sponsors the hurlers. Leinster Senior Club Hurling Championship
The Leinster Senior Club Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the AIB Leinster GAA Hurling Senior Club Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the champion senior clubs in the province of Leinster in Ireland. It is the most prestigious club competition in Leinster hurling. Introduced in 1971, it was initially a straight knockout tournament open to all 12 county senior champions from the 1970 championship season. The competition is currently limited to the eight champion club teams from the strongest hurling counties in Leinster. In its current format, the Leinster Club Championship begins in November following the completion of the individual county championships. Dublin Senior Hurling Championship
The Dublin Senior Hurling Championship ( ga, Craobh Sinsear Iomána Átha Cliath) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Dublin GAA, Dublin County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA) since 1887 for the top hurling clubs in County Dublin, Ireland. Sixteen clubs compete. Initially the teams are divided into four groups of four with the group matches being played from April to May with a break to accommodate the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland Championship and resume during August or September. The group stage is followed by a Tournament#Knock-out tournaments, knock-out phase which takes place during the months of October and November. All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship
The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Club Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Club Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county club hurling competition in Ireland, and has been contested every year since the 1970-71 championship (except for 2020-2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic). The final, currently held on the third Sunday in January, is the culmination of a series of games played between October and February with the winners receiving the Tommy Moore Cup. The All-Ireland Championship has always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the championship. Cualu
Cualu or Cuala (genitive ) was a territory in Gaelic Ireland south of the River Liffey encompassing the Wicklow Mountains. History Edmund Hogan concludes from primary sources that it "seems to extend from Arklow to the Liffey, and to be coextensive with he diocese of Glendaloch". The Slíghe Chualann Cualu Way"was a major road to Tara which crossed the Liffey at Ford of Hurdles" beside the later site of Dublin city. Henry Morris suggested, based on a story in a law tract, that the men of Cualu"had originally lived further north, in Brega around Tara, until displaced by the Ciannachta after the battle of Crionna. Among the kings of Leinster were Cellach Cualann (died 715) and Crimthann mac Áedo (died 633) who the Annals of Tigernach say was "of Cualu". "Tuathal son of Cremthann, king of Cualu" died in 778. Con O'Callaghan (born April 1996) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays Gaelic football for the Dublin county football team. He is a dual player for the Cuala club, in football senior "A" and hurling senior "A". He was also a dual player at inter-county minor level. O'Callaghan is a capable free-taker; however, with Dublin he is not required to take them, with Dean Rock and Cormac Costello on the field. The Dublin Senior Hurling League is a league competition for the top hurling clubs in Dublin. The 2010 champions were Craobh Chiaráin who defeated rivals Crumlin to claim the title. David Treacy
David Treacy (born 21 November 1989) is an Irish hurler who plays as a right wing-forward for the Dublin senior team. Born in Glenageary, Treacy first played competitive hurling with the amalgamated Dublin Colleges team, winning an All-Ireland medal in 2006. He simultaneously came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Cuala club, winning under-21 championship medals as a dual player. Treacy subsequently joined the Cuala senior team and has enjoyed much success, culminating with the winning of an All-Ireland medal in 2017. He has also won two Leinster medals and three county championship medals. Treacy made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he was selected for the Dublin minor teams in both codes. He enjoyed two championship seasons with the minor teams, Leinster medals as both a Gaelic footballer and as a hurler.
