Crystal Machete
''Crystal Machete'' is an instrumental solo album by Wes Borland, guitarist of Limp Bizkit and frontman of Black Light Burns. The album was conceived as a soundtrack to an imaginary '80s movie. While recording the album, Borland imposed the following guidelines upon himself: no distorted guitars, no human vocals, and as little outside help as possible. The album was released in May 2016 to positive reviews. For example, Antiquiet praised Borland's ability to rise to the challenges of the self-imposed limitations, while Drowned in Sound found the album to be "a beautiful, sprawling post-rock mini epic". The album received a vinyl release on the label Edison Sound in September 2016. Wes Borland
Wesley Louden Borland (born February 7, 1975) is an American rock musician. He is best known as the current guitarist and backing vocalist of the rap metal band Limp Bizkit, the lead vocalist and guitarist of the alternative and industrial rock band Black Light Burns, and the co-founder of experimental metal band Big Dumb Face. He gained popularity when Limp Bizkit achieved mainstream success in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He formed Big Dumb Face with his brother Scott in 1998 and left Limp Bizkit in 2001 to start side projects including Eat the Day and The Damning Well. After rejoining Limp Bizkit in 2004, Borland founded Black Light Burns, with whom he has released three studio albums and a covers album. Limp Bizkit went on hiatus following the release of their album ''The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1)'' (2005). Post-rock
Post-rock is a form of experimental rock characterized by a focus on exploring textures and timbre over traditional rock song structures, chords, or riffs. Post-rock artists are often instrumental, typically combining rock instrumentation with electronics. The genre emerged within the indie and underground music scene of the 1980s and early 1990s. Black Light Burns is an American industrial rock band fronted by Wes Borland. Founded in 2005 after Borland departed Limp Bizkit, the band's lineup also includes Nick Annis, Dennis Sanders and Dylan Taylor. Their debut album, ''Cruel Melody'', was released in June 2007 to critical acclaim. ''Drowned in Sound'', sometimes abbreviated to ''DiS'', is a UK-based music webzine financed by artist management company Silentway. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums.
