Cry Tough (film)
''Cry Tough'' is a 1959 crime drama film directed by Paul Stanley written by Harry Kleiner, starring John Saxon and Linda Cristal. The screenplay of the film is based on the novel of the same name by Irving Shulman. However, in the transition from print to film the Jewish Brooklyn gang of the novel became a Puerto Rican gang in Spanish Harlem. Paul Stanley (1922, Hartford, Connecticut - 2002) was an American television director. Stanley worked in television from the early 1950s until the mid-1980s. His credits encompass all genres, extending to more than fifty prime time television series of the period, from ''Have Gun – Will Travel'' in 1957 to ''Charlie's Angels'' in the late 1970s, to ''MacGyver'' in 1985. Don Gordon (born Donald Walter Guadagno; November 13, 1926 – April 24, 2017) was an American film and television actor. Film noir (; ) is a cinematic term used primarily to describe stylish Hollywood crime dramas, particularly those that emphasize cynical attitudes and motivations. Hecht-Hill-Lancaster was a production company formed by the actor Burt Lancaster in association with his agent, Harold Hecht, and James Hill. In 1948 Lancaster and Hecht formed Norma Productions (named after his wife), which later became Hecht-Lancaster. Hill joined in the mid-1950s.
