Cruïlles Tower
Cruïlles is a village in the Baix Empordà, now part of the municipality of Cruïlles, Monells i Sant Sadurní de l'Heura, which is the administrative center and location of City Hall. It was its own municipality until 1973, when it merged with Monells and Sant Sadurní de l'Heura to form the current municipality. In 2005 it was the second most populated village in the municipality after Puigventós with 250 inhabitants. Geography The expansive borders of Cruïlles extend from the plains of Empordà to finally encompass much of the massifs of the Gavarres. The village is located at the Pla de Cruïlles, above the Daró river and at the foot of the rural road GI-664 between la Bisbal d'Empordà and Cassà de la Selva, a few miles from la Bisbal. Gavarres
Les Gavarres or Massís de les Gavarres is a mountain massif in Catalonia, Spain. It is part of the Catalan Coastal Range. The highest point is Puig d'Arques, 532 m. Other important summits are Mare de Déu dels Àngels (485 m) and Santa Pellaia (353 m). Geography The mountains run broadly north-west, south-east in the Costa Brava region. They meet the sea between Castell-Platja d'Aro and Palamós. The range runs as far west as Girona. There are a number of villages in the mountains including Romanyà de la Selva and Santa Pellaia. The mountains also include the hermitage of ''Mare de Déu dels Àngels'' where there are views of both the Sea and Pyrenees. The ranges of the Gavarres are generally formed from granite rock, an extension from the volcanic area around Olot. Peratallada
Peratallada is a town in the municipality of Forallac, in the county of Baix Empordà, in Catalonia, Spain. It is located 22 km east of Girona. Its name is derived from ''pedra tallada'', meaning 'carved stone'. Declared a historic-artistic monument, most of the buildings are built from stone carved from the fosse or moat which still encircles parts of this small fortified medieval town. The privately owned Castle of Peratallada is the dominant structure in the center of the town, with a 13th-century Romanesque church dedicated to Sant Esteve (Saint Stephen) outside the town walls. The castle has been documented as early as 1065 AD and it was restored as a luxury hotel in the 1960s. During restoration, traces of settlement were found that date back to the Bronze Age. Cassà De La Selva
Cassà de la Selva is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Gironès in Catalonia, It is linked to Girona and to the Baix Empordà by the C-65 road. During the 20th century it was known for the production of cork and derived articles. With an increasing population of 9,200 citizens, this municipality is located 12 km south of Girona and 20 km west of the Mediterranean Sea. Transport The nearest train station is at Caldes de Malavella (8 km), and the Girona-Costa Brava Airport is at 10 km. La Bisbal D'Empordà
La Bisbal d'Empordà is the county seat of the ''comarca'' of Baix Empordà in Catalonia, Spain. The town lies 29 km southeast of Girona, 12 km west of Palafrugell and 19 km northwest of Palamós along road C-66 from Girona to Palafrugell/Palamós, where it becomes C-31. Two other roads branch off at La Bisbal, GI-660 to Calonge and Sant Feliu de Guíxols and GI-664 to Cassà de la Selva; both roads cross the hilly coastal range called the Gavarres, with many twists and turns. The municipality lies on the northern edge of the Gavarres, on either side of the Daró river-bed, a dry tributary of River Ter.
