Deportivo Cruz Azul Lagunas is a football club that plays in the Third Division. It is based in the city of Lagunas, Mexico. It's an official reserve team of Cruz Azul. History In the 1960s, the Cooperativa Cemento Cruz Azul continued to establish cities dedicated to its industry, one of which was located on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and was called Lagunas, Oaxaca, soccer was one of the favorite sports for the development of the cities founded by the company. Since the 1990s, the team has participated in the Third Division, a category in which it has remained ever since. Between 2003 and 2006 there was a parallel project called Cruz Azul Oaxaca, which played in the Primera División A, which was nourished in part by players from the Lagunas team. In the 2018–19 season, the team reached the Third Division quarterfinals, one of their best recent appearances. Lagunas, Oaxaca is a town in the municipality of El Barrio de La Soledad, in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico It is located in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Cemento Cruz Azul is a cement company in Mexico. It was founded more than a century ago, during 1881, by a British businessman named Henry Gibbon. For the 2009/2010 season, the format of the tournament has been reorganized to a home and away format, which all teams will play in their respective group. Club de Futbol Cruz Azul or simply Cruz Azul () is a professional football club based in Mexico City, Mexico. It competes in the Liga MX, the top division of Mexican football. Because "azul" means "blue" in Spanish, the club has traditionally worn a blue home kit. The Isthmus of Tehuantepec () is an isthmus in Mexico. It represents the shortest distance between the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. Before the opening of the Panama Canal, it was a major overland transport route known simply as the Tehuantepec Route. The name is taken from the town of Santo Domingo Tehuantepec in the state of Oaxaca; this was derived from the Nahuatl term (" jaguar mountain"). Javier Ignacio Aquino Carmona (, born 11 February 1990) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a full-back for Liga MX club Tigres UANL. He is an Olympic gold medalist. Julio César Domínguez Juárez (born 8 November 1987), sometimes known as Cata, is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Liga MX club Atlético San Luis.
