Crunch (programming Block)
CRUNCH was a former Saturday morning programming block dedicated to animation on the Canadian television channel YTV. CRUNCH premiered on September 9, 2006, replacing The Zone Summer Weekends hosted by Sugar and Carlos, and "Vortex" hosted by Paula. From its beginning until mid September 2008, it was hosted by Ajay Fry. Starting October 4, 2008, Andy Chapman (not to be confused with Andy from the YTV show, Prank Patrol) became the host. YTV is a Canadian English language specialty channel owned by YTV Canada, Inc., a subsidiary of Corus Entertainment. The channel and its programming is targeted at children and young teenagers; its name was originally thought to be an abbreviation for "Youth Television", though the channel's website has denied this. The channel was launched on September 1, 1988 by owners Rogers Media and CUC Broadcasting upon launch. In 1995, Shaw Communications acquired CUC's 34% stake and in 1998, it acquired Rogers' remaining interest of the channel, before Shaw's media division was spun off to form Corus Entertainment in 1999. Under Corus ownership, YTV sources most of its programming from U.S.-based Nickelodeon and launched its own dedicated TV channel several years later. Ajay Fry
Ajay Fry (born Ajay Jack Fry, 17 June 1983) is a Canadian comedian, television personality and producer who grew up in Ottawa, Ontario, best known as host on the official Orphan Black after show ''After the Black'' on BBC America, and the Canadian daily entertainment talk show ''InnerSpace'' on Space (2008–2018). Early life Fry was born in Toronto, Ontario on June 17, 1983, to Pat Fry, a voiceover artist (best known for his role as the titular character's father on the Canadian children's TV series Caillou) and former radio host, and Sharon Fry (née Hoff), a legal assistant. Prank Patrol (Canadian TV Series)
''Prank Patrol'' is a Canadian children's television series that aired on YTV. Each episode, host André "Andy" Simoneau and a team of ninjas help kids pull off pranks on an unsuspecting victim, usually a friend or family member. With the help of experts, pranksters convince their victims that the events - such as the prankster possessing incredible super powers, alien landings, or an intelligent gorilla suddenly appearing - are real, until the process is revealed to the victims after a successful prank. Format At the beginning of the show, Andy and the Ninjas are shown driving a van to the designated location where the victim is. After introducing themselves, Andy then throws the Prank Patrol logo on the screen and the episode starts. Each episode, the ninjas wreak havoc on an unsuspecting public with a different prank.
