Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (soundtrack)
''Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'' is the original soundtrack album of the 2000 Academy Award- and Golden Globe Award-winning film ''Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'' starring Yun-Fat Chow, Michelle Yeoh, Ziyi Zhang and Chen Chang. The score was composed by Tan Dun, originally performed by Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai National Orchestra, and Shanghai Percussion Ensemble. It also features many solo passages for cello played by Yo-Yo Ma. The "last track" (''A Love Before Time'') features Coco Lee. The music for the entire film was produced in two weeks. In addition to the awards won (see below) the score was also nominated for a Golden Globe but lost to the score of the film ''Gladiator''. Tan Dun arranged portions of the film score into a concerto for cello and orchestra called the Crouching Tiger Concerto. Chen Yuanlin also collaborated in the project. Chen Yuanlin
Chen Yuanlin (; born in Guilin, 1957) is a Chinese electronic composer based in the United States. He is a guest lecturer at the Center for Electronic Music of China (CEMC) founded in 1993 by Professor Zhang Xiaofu at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Education Yuanlin Chen received a bachelor's degree from Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China, where he continued his studies and received his master's degree as well. The original score and songs were composed by Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard and were released in 2000, titled ''Gladiator: Music From the Motion Picture''. The Shanghai Symphony Orchestra () is a symphony orchestra in Shanghai, China. Its music director is Yu Long. Founded in 1879, the SSO is the oldest Chinese symphony orchestra. Originally, it was known as the Shanghai Public Band, expanding in 1907 to an orchestra. In 1922, it was renamed as the Shanghai Municipal Council Symphony Orchestra. Chen Chang (陳昌) (537 – 5 May 560), courtesy name Jingye (敬業), formally Prince Xian of Hengyang (衡陽獻王),(衡阳献王昌字敬业，高祖第六子也。) ''Chen Shu'', vol.14 was an imperial prince of the Chinese dynasty Chen Dynasty. He was the sixth and only surviving son of the founding emperor Emperor Wu (Chen Baxian), but as he was detained as a hostage by Western Wei and Western Wei's successor state Northern Zhou, was unable to succeed to the throne when Emperor Wu died in 559.
