Cross Lake Provincial Park
Cross Lake Provincial Park is a provincial park in Alberta, Canada, located west from Athabasca, Alberta, Athabasca and north of Westlock, Alberta, Westlock. The park is situated at an elevation of and has a surface of . The park was established on November 22, 1955, and is maintained by Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation. It completely surrounds Steele Lake, which has a cruciform shape that led to the previous name of "Cross Lake", the source of the park's name. The two-barred crossbill or white-winged crossbill (''Loxia leucoptera'') is a small passerine bird in the finch family Fringillidae. Etymology The scientific name is from Ancient Greek.
