Cross-country Skiing At The 2022 Winter Olympics
Cross-country skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held at the Kuyangshu Nordic Center and Biathlon Center in Zhangjiakou, China. A total of 296 quota spots (148 per gender) were distributed to the sport, a decline of 14 from the 2018 Winter Olympics. A total of 12 events were contested, six each for men and women. Qualification A maximum of 296 quota spots will be available to athletes to compete at the games. A maximum of 16 athletes can be entered by a National Olympic Committee, with a maximum of 8 men or 8 women. Nations that have an athlete achieve less than 300 FIS points in the 2021 World Championships, or the under 23 World Championships, gain entry for at least one competitor, of that gender, into the 2022 games. Ivan Andreyevich Yakimushkin (russian: Иван Андреевич Якимушкин; born 17 June 1996) is a Russian cross-country skier. Career Ivan Yakimushkin was born 17 June 1996 to a sportive family. He started cross-country skiing from the age of eight, his first coach was Galina Kabanova. His father Andrey Vladimirovich replaced her when Ivan was 12. Yakimushkin first trained in Murom, then in Tyumen. At the 2015 Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Almaty, Yakimushkin won silver in 10 km classical/freestyle skiathlon and gold as part of the relay team. A year later he won another gold medal, now in 15 km freestyle. His relay team finished second. Spitsov debuted in the World Cup in Davos, Switzerland, on 9 December 2017. Iivo Henrik Niskanen (born 12 January 1992) is a Finnish cross-country skier who has competed in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup since 2011. He is a three-time Olympic champion.
