Cross-country skiing at the Winter Olympics, Cross-country skiing at the 2014 Winter Olympics was held at the Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex near Krasnaya Polyana, Sochi, Krasnodar Krai, Krasnaya Polyana, Russia. Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex
The Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex (russian: Лыжно-биатлонный комплекс «Лаура») is a skiing venue located on the crests and slopes of Psekhako Ridge in Krasnaya Polyana, Sochi, Krasnodar Krai, Krasnaya Polyana, Russia. For the 2014 Winter Olympics and 2014 Winter Paralympics, Paralympics in neighboring Sochi, it hosted the biathlon and the cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skiing portion of the Nordic combined events. Ilia Grigoryevich Chernousov (russian: Илья Григорьевич Черноу́сов; born 7 August 1986) is a Russian cross-country skier. He won bronze medals at the 2011 World Championships and 2014 Winter Olympics. Career Chernousov's first World Cup victory was in the 4×10 km relay in Switzerland in 2007. His best individual results came in the 30 km pursuit in 2011: a third place at the world championship and the first place at the world cup. Nikita Valeryevich Kryukov (russian: Никита Валерьевич Крюков; born 30 May 1985) is a Russian former cross-country skier who competed internationally between 2006 and 2018. He was a sprint specialist who won an Olympic gold medal, three World Championship gold medals, six World cup gold medals (three stage races, three individual World Cups), all in the sprint events. He was arguably the fastest skier ever when it came to double-poling on the flat in sprints. He generally favoured classic skiing and classic sprints over freestyle, but as he showed in winning the team sprint in the 2013 World Championship, in Val di Fiemme, he was also very strong in the freestyle sprint. Sami Jauhojärvi
Sami Jauhojärvi (born 5 May 1981) is a Finnish former Cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skier who competed between 2000 and 2017. At the 2014 Winter Olympics, he won Cross-country skiing at the 2014 Winter Olympics – Men's team sprint, men's team sprint with Iivo Niskanen. Germany launched a protest over the result due to a final-leg collision between Jauhojärvi and Tim Tscharnke, but it was rejected by the jury. Jauhojärvi's Finland finished fifth in the 4 x 10 km relay in Vancouver in 2010 Winter Olympics, 2010. Jauhojärvi won his first medal at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec with a bronze in the team sprint with Ville Nousiainen, and then added a second in the 4 × 10 km relay. Iivo Niskanen
Iivo Henrik Niskanen (born 12 January 1992) is a Finnish cross-country skier who has competed in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup since 2011. He is a three-time Olympic champion. Career Iivo Niskanen made his individual World Cup debut on 12 March 2011, when he became 69th in a 20 km skiathlon in Lahti, Finland. He had his breakthrough at the international level when he won the 15-kilometre classic race at the 2014 under-23 World Championships in Val di Fiemme on 30 January 2014. He won the race with a 17.4 seconds margin to Sergey Ustiugov. Only three days after he won the gold medal at the under-23 World Championships, he became 8th in a 15 km classic World Cup race in Toblach, Italy. Emil Jönsson Haag (born 15 August 1985) is a Swedish retired cross-country skier who competed between 2004 and 2018. Career At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he finished seventh in the individual sprint event. He has twelve World Cup victories, all in sprint events, since 2008. He won the FIS Cross-Country Sprint World Cup in 2009–10 and 2010–11. He won bronze in the sprint at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. In March 2018, his retirement from cross-country skiing following the 2017–2018 season was announced. Teodor Anders Peterson (born 1 May 1988 in Umeå) is a Swedish former cross-country skier that had sprint as his best discipline. Career He debuted in the World Cup on 7 March 2009 in Lahti in the 2008–09 season. Peterson made his breakthrough in the 2011–12 season. Ola Vigen Hattestad (born 19 April 1982) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier who competed from 2002 through 2018. Competing in three Winter Olympics, he became Olympic champion in the individual sprint event at Sochi in 2014. Career Hattestad has 13 individual World Cup victories, all in the sprint events.
