Fernand Crommelynck
Fernand Crommelynck (19 November 1886 – 17 March 1970) was a Belgian dramatist. His work is known for farces in which commonplace weaknesses are developed into monumental obsessions. Biography He was born into a family of actors, the child of a French mother and a Belgian father and he himself was also an actor. His sons Aldo Crommelynck (1931–2009), Piero (1934-2001) and Milan were renowned master printmakers, who worked with Pablo Picasso and many other major artists of the twentieth century. In his earliest works Crommelynck already demonstrated the grasp of style and content that in his maturity culminated in works of great poetic force. The dramatic structure in ''Nous n'irons plus au bois'' (1906), ''Le sculpteur de masques'' (1908) and ''Le marchand de regrets'' (1913), was already based on the logical development of an absurd premise. Aldo Crommelynck
Aldo Crommelynck (26 December 1931 – 22 December 2008) was a Belgian master printmaker who made intaglio prints in collaboration with many important European and American artists of the 20th century. At the time of his death, The Guardian termed Crommelynck the ' pre-eminent' and 'the most celebrated printmaker of the second half of the 20th century.' Family Crommelinck was born in Monaco. His father was the Belgian playwright Fernand Crommelynck (1886–1970) and his mother was Anne Marie Le Tellier (1886–1970). They had four sons: Jean, Aldo, Piero (1934–2001), and Milan. Aldo's older brother, Jean, was a photographer and reporter. Fernand's theatrical masterpiece was '' Le Cocu magnifique'' (1920). He also made many black and white drawings of his family and friends. Aldo's uncle, Albert Crommelynck, was a Belgian painter, set designer, muralist, printmaker, and writer. Duo Crommelynck
Duo Crommelynck was the name of a notable classical piano duo team active from 1974 to 1994. It consisted of the Belgian Patrick Crommelynck and his Japanese-born wife Taeko Kuwata. In 1994, at the height of their fame, they each took their own life. Biographies Patrick Crommelynck was born in Brussels in 1945, Taeko Kuwata in Tokyo in 1947. Patrick studied with Stefan Askenase at the Brussels Conservatory, with Victor Merzhanov at the Moscow Conservatory, and with Dieter Weber in Vienna, where he met Taeko Kuwata, who was another of Weber's students. They married and formed their duo in 1974. They came to attention with their two-piano version of Brahms's 4th Symphony. They achieved considerable praise and recognition and were considered one of the world's leading piano duos. They toured widely and a number of composers wrote works for them.
