Croatia Women's National Basketball Team
The Croatia women's national basketball team is the national representative for Croatia in international women's basketball competition. The team is controlled by the Croatian Basketball Federation (''Hrvatski košarkaški savez''). Results Prior to 1992 the Croatia women's national basketball team competed as a part of the Yugoslavia women's national basketball team. The lone competition the Croatia women's national team have never qualified for is the FIBA Women's World Cup. Croatian Basketball Federation
The Croatian Basketball Federation ( hr, Hrvatski košarkaški savez) is a non-profit organization and the national sports governing body of basketball in Croatia. It was founded on 19 December 1948 as a member of the larger Basketball Federation of Yugoslavia. On 19 January 1992, the HKS joined the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). Croatia competes in the European region of FIBA. The Federation runs the men's national team and the women's national team. Basketball At The 2000 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The women's tournament of basketball at the 2000 Olympics at Sydney, Australia began on September 16 and ended on September 30, when the United States defeated Australia 76–54 for the gold medal. Preliminary round games were held at The Dome and elimination games at the Sydney SuperDome. Qualifying Format * Twelve teams are split into 2 preliminary round groups of 6 teams each. EuroBasket Women 2001 occurred in France from September 14 to September 23, 2001. The winners were the home team France, followed by Russia and Spain. Venues The tournament was held in three cities in France: Orléans, Le Mans and Gravelines. Basketball At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The 2020 Summer Olympics women's basketball tournament in Tokyo, began on 26 July and ended on 8 August 2021. All games were played at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. It was originally scheduled to be held in 2020, but on 24 March 2020, the Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this pandemic, the games were played behind closed doors. The United States won the title for the ninth overall and seventh consecutive time by defeating Japan in the final, while France secured the bronze medal with a win over Serbia. The medals for the competition were presented by Samira Asghari, IOC Member, Afghanistan, and the medalists' bouquets were presented by Andreas Zagklis, Secretary General of FIBA, Greece.
