Croatia entered the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time as an independent country in 1993. The country's first entry was by Put with the song "Don't Ever Cry". Background Croatia first entered the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993, having previously competed as a part of Yugoslavia from 1961 to 1991. SR Croatia was the most successful republic of Yugoslavia at Eurovision, with 11 of the 27 entries that won the Yugoslavian selection for the Eurovision Song Contest being Croatian. During the disintegration of Yugoslavia the state broadcaster at the time, JRT, decided to continue Yugoslavia's participation in the contest, holding one last national final for the 1992 Contest, held on 28 March 1992. Put is a Croatian pop group from Rijeka. It was selected from members of Putokazi, in order to appear at Eurovision Song Contest 1993, 1993 Eurovision Song Contest as the very first representative of independent Croatia, singing "Don't Ever Cry". Nina Badrić (; born 4 July 1972) is a Croatian pop singer and songwriter. She began performing in the early 1990s, and competed in " Dora" – the Croatian selection for Eurovision Song Contest 4 times. She won 7th place in 1993 with "Ostavljam te", 10th place in 1994 with "Godine nestvarne", 18th place in 1995 with "Odlaziš zauvijek", and second place in 2003 with "Čarobno jutro". Davor Borno is a Croatian musician, pop singer and songwriter. Biography and career Davor Borno started his musical career in 1989, on the last album of Croatian pop-rock band and became known in the former state Yugoslavia, as a talented new musician and singer. Before that, in 1988, he was the vocalist in Boris Novković’s band Noćna Straža. 1992 to 2012 he successfully participated at the 14 music festivals in Croatia and Slovenia and won many awards at several festivals. Yugoslavia was present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1986, held in Bergen, Norway, after opting out of the previous year's contest in Gothenburg, Sweden. Before Eurovision Jugovizija 1986 The Yugoslav national final to select their entry was held on 7 March 1986 at the Palace of Youth and Sports in Priština, and was hosted by Enver Petrovci, a renowned theatre actor. Sixteen songs made it to the national final, which was broadcast by JRT to all of the regions of Yugoslavia. The winner was decided by the votes of eight regional juries (Sarajevo, Zagreb, Skopje, Titograd, Belgrade, Ljubljana, Pristina and Novi Sad). Opatija (; it, Abbazia; german: Sankt Jakobi) is a town and a municipality in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in western Croatia. ''Slobodna Dalmacija'' () is a Croatian daily newspaper published in Split. The first issue of ''Slobodna Dalmacija'' was published on 17 June 1943 by Tito's Partisans in an abandoned stone barn on Mosor, a mountain near Split, while the city was occupied by the Italian army.
