Cristián Enrique Viel Temperley (born 4 November 1967 in Buenos Aires) is a former Argentine rugby union player. He played as a flanker. Viel played for Club Newman in the Nacional de Clubes of Argentina. He had 26 caps for Argentina, from 1993 to 1997, scoring 3 tries, 15 points on aggregate. 1993 Rugby World Cup Sevens
The 1993 Rugby World Cup Sevens was held at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, Scotland, in April 1993. This tournament was the inaugural Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament. The International Rugby Board invited the established rugby union nations but also were keen to involve emerging nations in the event, recognising the fact that Sevens was providing the bridge between the developed rugby nations and those whose rugby union traditions were less well established. The IRB situated the tournament in the spiritual home nation of rugby sevens, Scotland. The games were played at the home of Scottish rugby, Murrayfield Stadium. Club Newman
Club Newman is an Argentine sports club located in the city of Benavídez of Tigre Partido, Greater Buenos Aires. The club is mostly known for its rugby union team, which currently plays in the Top 12, the first division of the Unión de Rugby de Buenos Aires league system. Newman's facilities also host other sports such as field hockey, football, golf, show jumping and tennis. History The club was founded on December 15, 1975, by alumni of Cardinal Newman College. The first facilities were located in Benavidez, a district in Tigre Partido. The college had been established by the order of the Christian Brothers. In 2004, the rugby team of the club reached the Torneo de la URBA semi-finals (where they lost to Alumni), one of its most important achievements, since they have never won any championships. The Torneo Nacional de Clubes is a club rugby union competition in Argentina, organised by the Argentine Rugby Union (UAR). The Nacional de Clubes is the main club competition in Argentine rugby, being contested by a total of 16 teams, 8 from Buenos Aires and 8 from the rest of the provinces of Argentina. There is also a second division, "Nacional de Clubes B", with a similar format. History From 1993 to 2008, the competition involved 16 clubs, which were divided into four zones. The 1995 Rugby World Cup was the third Rugby World Cup. It was hosted and won by South Africa, and was the first Rugby World Cup in which every match was held in one country. The World Cup was the first major sporting event to take place in South Africa following the end of apartheid.
