Cristal is the flagship ''cuvée'' of Champagne Louis Roederer, created in 1876 for Alexander II, tsar of Russia. History Champagne increased in popularity with the Russian nobility from 1855 onwards. An especially popular brand was Louis Roederer's, who shipped a third of his production to Russia. Cristal was first created for Alexander II of Russia, and is viewed by many as the first ''prestige cuvée''. As the political situation in Russia at the time of his rule was unstable, the Tsar feared assassination. Thus when he visited Paris in 1867 for the Exposition Universelle, the Tsar ordered that champagne bottles for the lavish dinner he hosted for the German Kaiser Wilhelm I and Chancellor Otto von Bismarck (later termed the Three Emperors Dinner) be made clear, so that he could see the bubbles and also to prevent an explosive being hidden beneath them, as could happen with a typical dark green indented bottle. Colombia An aguardiente named Cristal is produced in Manizales, Colombia in 1950 by Sergio Castro Brandon (Licorera de Manizales). ''Celestyal Crystal'', previously ''Louis Cristal'', is a cruise ship operated by the Cyprus-based Celestyal Cruises and previously Louis Cruise Lines, both in the Louis Group. The ship was originally built as the cruiseferry MS ''Viking Saga'' in 1980 at Wärtsilä Perno Shipyard and Turku Shipyard, Turku, Finland for Rederi Ab Sally. The club's senior team is inactive since 2013, having last played in a professional match in August 2011. They competed in the Série C in 2008, and in the Série D in 2009. Simone Bittencourt de Oliveira, better known as Simone, is a Brazilian singer of Música Popular Brasileira (MPB) who has recorded more than 30 albums. Biography Simone was born on December 25, 1949, in Salvador, Bahia, as the seventh daughter in a family of nine children. During her teenage years, she was a professional basketball player and moved to São Paulo to become a member of the women's national basketball team. She studied in Santos, São Paulo, majoring in physical education. Career Her music career began when a close friend and guitar teacher Elodir Barontini invited her to sing at a dinner with Odeon's marketing manager.
