Jason Cripps
Jason Cripps (born 14 October 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Australian Football League (AFL). AFL career Cripps was often used as a tagger but also played in defence. He played in the Saints' losing 1997 Grand Final team and in 1998 suffered a serious hamstring injury which saw the muscle torn off the bone. As a result, he did not return to football until 2001, kicking a goal with his first kick back. He was delisted at the conclusion of the 2002 season. Post football career Cripps played with Tasmania in the VFL for a season before returning to St Kilda in player development and assistant coaching roles under Grant Thomas. He moved to Port Adelaide for the 2007 season as an assistant coach under Mark Williams before becoming the club's list manager at the end of 2011. William Cripps
William Cripps (1 January 1805 – 11 May 1848) was a British Conservative Member of Parliament. Early life Cripps was born 1 January 1805 and baptised at Cirencester on 17 May 1805. He was the eldest son of Joseph Cripps, and, his second wife, Dorothea Harrison. His father served as MP for Cirencester. His brother, Henry William Cripps, QC, was the father of William Harrison Cripps, the prominent British surgeon, and politician Charles Cripps, 1st Baron Parmoor. He matriculated at Trinity College, Oxford on 25 May 1822, aged seventeen. He received a B.A. in 1826 and M.A. in 1829. Career He was admitted to the Inner Temple and became a barrister-at-law in 1829. He sat himself for the constituency of Cirencester, from 1841 until his death in 1848. Stafford Cripps
Sir Richard Stafford Cripps (24 April 1889 – 21 April 1952) was a British Labour Party politician, barrister, and diplomat. A wealthy lawyer by background, he first entered Parliament at a by-election in 1931, and was one of a handful of Labour frontbenchers to retain his seat at the general election that autumn. He became a leading spokesman for the left-wing and co-operation in a Popular Front with Communists before 1939, in which year he was expelled from the Labour Party. During World War II, he served as Ambassador to the USSR (1940–42), during which time he grew wary of the Soviet Union, but achieved great public popularity because on being invaded by Nazi Germany the USSR stated its co-operation with the Allies and restoring peace, causing Cripps to be seen in 1942 as a potential rival to Winston Churchill for the premiership. Sarah Cripps
Sarah Ann Cripps (1822 – 8 June 1892) was a New Zealand accommodation-house keeper, shopkeeper, postmistress and midwife. She was born Sarah Ann Rigelsford in London, England, in circa 1822. As a young woman, she set up her own dressmaking business, and married Isaac Cripps, a police officer, in 1844. After participating in Charles Enderby's failed whaling settlement at Hardwicke on the Auckland Islands from 1849, Isaac and Sarah moved to the Wellington Region with their four young children and lived in Island Bay. In 1857 the Cripps bought 40 acres of land at Whareama on the route to the Hawke's Bay Region and established and ran an accommodation house there called "Sevenoaks". The homestead (pictured) was built in wattle and daub with toi-toi and raupo thatching. Enid Margaret "Peggy" Appiah (née Cripps), MBE ( ; 21 May 1921 – 11 February 2006), was a British children's author, philanthropist and socialite. She was the daughter of the Right Honourable Sir Stafford Cripps and Dame Isobel Cripps, and the wife of Ghanaian lawyer and political activist Nana Joe Appiah. Patrick Cripps (born 18 March 1995) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Jamie Cripps (born 23 April 1992) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). Cripps is a cousin of two other AFL players, Patrick Cripps (Carlton) and Chris Mainwaring (West Coast).
