Jean Servais
Jean Servais (; 24 September 1910 – 17 February 1976) was a Belgian film and stage actor. He acted in many 20th century French cinema productions, from the 1930s through the early 1970s. He was married to Gilberte Graillot, and later actress Dominique Blanchar. Career Servais trained at the Brussels Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, where he won the Second Prize. His acting skills came to the attention of Raymond Rouleau, and he was hired at the Théâtre du Marais, where he acted in ''Le mal de jeunesse'', which was successful in Brussels and in Paris. He was also a member of Jean-Louis Barrault's theatre company. His first film role was as the simple country dweller who was the victim of an error by the justice system in the film ''Criminel'' (1932), directed by Jack Forrester. The Criminal Code
''The Criminal Code'' is a 1931 American pre-Code romantic crime drama film directed by Howard Hawks and starring Walter Huston and Phillips Holmes. The screenplay, based on a 1929 play of the same name by Martin Flavin, was written by Fred Niblo Jr. and Seton I. Miller, who were nominated for Best Adaptation at the 4th Academy Awards but the award went to Howard Estabrook for Cimarron. The film is the first of three film adaptations of the play released by Columbia Pictures. It was followed by ''Penitentiary'' (1938) and ''Convicted'' (1950). Plot Six years of hard labor in the prison jute mill has taken its toll on young Graham, convicted of manslaughter after a drunken brawl. The penitentiary's doctor and psychiatrist recommends that he be offered a change of duties before psychological damage become irreversible. John McIntyre Forrester (19 February 1894 – 4 August 1964) was a Scottish-American professional golfer who played in the early-to-mid 20th century. His best finish in a Men's major golf championships, major championship was fourth in the 1923 U.S. Open (golf), 1923 U.S. Open. He won the 1929 New Jersey PGA Championship while serving as head professional at Baltusrol Golf Club. Early life Forrester was born at 85 Port Street, Glasgow, Scotland, the son of James Forrester (died 1957) and Jane McIntyre (died 1916). Monique Joyce (1912–1994) was a French model, singer and actress.Burch & Sellier p.157 She began her career appearing in Opéra comique. After winning the Mademoiselle Paris contest in March 1933 she received greater public attention and made her first film appearance that year. During the Occupation of France she appeared in several productions by the German-backed Continental Films that later led to charges of collaboration. Her final role was a supporting part in the 1943 film ''Late Love'' directed by Gustav Ucicky and made in Vienna.
