Crime On Their Hands
''Crime on Their Hands'' is a 1948 short subject directed by Edward Bernds starring American slapstick comedy team The Three Stooges (Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Shemp Howard). It is the 112th entry in the series released by Columbia Pictures starring the comedians, who released 190 shorts for the studio between 1934 and 1959. Plot The Stooges are janitors at a newspaper who stumble on a hot story about the priceless Punjab diamond being stolen from the museum by an evil crook named Dapper Malone ( Kenneth MacDonald). With dreams of becoming genuine reporters, the trio head for Squid McGuffy's cafe asking for the whereabouts of Dapper. They manage to convince everyone at the restaurant that they are actually police. While searching several rooms above the cafe, the Stooges stumble on Dapper's moll, Bee (Christine McIntyre), who hastily hides the Punjab diamond in a candy dish. Edward Bernds
Edward Bernds (July 12, 1905May 20, 2000) was an American screenwriter and director, born in Chicago, Illinois. Career While in his junior year in Lake View High School, he and several friends formed a small radio clique and obtained amateur licenses. In the early 1920s, there was considerable prestige for amateur operators to have commercial radio licenses, and Bernds was in a good position to enter broadcasting when he graduated in 1923, a year when radio stations began to be established all over Chicago. He found employment — at age 20 — as chief operator at Chicago's WENR. When talking pictures began in the late 1920s, Bernds and broadcast operators like him relocated to Hollywood to work as sound technicians in "the talkies". After a brief period at United Artists, Bernds resigned and worked at Columbia Pictures, where he functioned as sound engineer on many of Frank Capra's classics in the 1930s. George Lloyd (actor)
George Harrington Lloyd (November 5, 1892 – August 15, 1967) was an American vaudevillian and character actor. Born in Edinburg, Illinois, Lloyd appeared in over 270 films between 1932 and 1956. Career In the late 1920s, Lloyd had his own vaudeville troupe. Lloyd appeared in the Three Stooges short subject ''Pardon My Clutch'' (1948) as the angry gas station attendant. Cancer is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. These contrast with benign tumors, which do not spread. Andy Clyde
Andrew Allan Clyde (March 25, 1892 – May 18, 1967) was a Scottish-born American film and television actor whose career spanned more than four decades. In 1921 he broke into silent films as a Mack Sennett comic, debuting in ''On a Summer Day''. He was the fifth of six children of theatrical actor, producer and manager John Clyde. Joe Palma
Joe Palma (born Joseph Provenzano; March 17, 1905 – August 14, 1994) was an American film actor. Palma appeared in over 120 films between 1937 and 1968. He was well known as a supporting player for The Three Stooges and his brief tenure as a body double to member Shemp Howard for four shorts produced after Shemp's death, which led to the coining of the term "Fake Shemp". Early years Palma was born and grew up in New York City, and worked as a mortician in the Provenzano Funeral Home, owned by his parents. Eventually, Hollywood called, and Palma headed west. He joined the stock company at Columbia Pictures in 1937, and played scores of bit parts over 30 years. With his lean build, brushed-back hair, and unassuming appearance, Joe Palma almost always played incidental roles.
