Cricket At The 2015 Pacific Games – Men's Tournament
A men's 20-over cricket tournament at the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, was held from 14 to 18 July 2015. Played at Amini Park and the Colts Cricket Ground, it was preceded by the women's tournament at the same venues the previous week. Vanuatu were undefeated throughout the tournament, defeating Papua New Guinea in the final to win the gold medal for the first time (and become the first country other than PNG to win a gold medal in men's Pacific Games cricket). Tonga defeated New Caledonia in the bronze-medal play-off. Only four teams participated in the tournament, the same as at the 2011 tournament and two less than in the women's tournament. Because the 2015 World Twenty20 Qualifier was held at the same time, Papua New Guinea fielded a development squad at the Pacific Games, coached by John Ovia. Pacific Games
The Pacific Games (French: Jeux du Pacifique), is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from Oceania. The inaugural Games took place in 1963 in Suva, Fiji, and most recently in 2019 in Apia, Samoa. The Games were called the South Pacific Games from 1963 to 2007. The Pacific Games Council (PGC) organises the Games and oversees the host city's preparations. Athletes with a disability are included as full members of their national teams. In each sporting event, gold medals are awarded for first place, silver medals are awarded for second place, and bronze medals are awarded for third place. Nine different cities in six countries and territories have hosted the Pacific Games. John Ovia (born 16 July 1976) is a Papua New Guinean cricketer. A right-handed batsman and right-arm off spin bowler, he has played for the Papua New Guinea national cricket team since the 1997 ICC Trophy. Kabua Morea (born 30 September 1993) is a Papua New Guinean cricketer. Morea was named in Papua New Guinea's squads for the 2012 Under-19 Cricket World Cup and the 2014 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He also represented Papua New Guinea in the men's cricket tournament at the 2015 Pacific Games, finishing the tournament as Papua New Guinea's leading wicket-taker with twelve dismissals. Bowling Average
In cricket, a player's bowling average is the number of runs they have conceded per wicket taken. The lower the bowling average is, the better the bowler is performing. It is one of a number of statistics used to compare bowlers, commonly used alongside the economy rate and the strike rate to judge the overall performance of a bowler. In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism). 2015 ICC World Cricket League Division Six
The 2015 ICC World Cricket League Division Six was a limited-overs international cricket tournament that took place in England from 7 to 13 September 2015. The majority of matches were played at grounds in Essex, although two matches took place in Bishop's Stortford, in the neighbouring county of Hertfordshire. Three bids were received for the event, with Essex being named the host in February 2015, after defeating bids from Guernsey and Vanuatu. Eight teams participated in the tournament, which formed part of the 2012–18 World Cricket League and the qualification process for the 2019 World Cup.
