Cricket NSW (officially known as the ''New South Wales Cricket Association'') is an Australian sporting association that administers cricket in New South Wales. It is based at the Sydney Olympic Park. The New South Wales Blues, the New South Wales Breakers, the Sydney Thunder and the Sydney Sixers are a part of the association. Cricket Australia (CA), formerly known as the Australian Cricket Board (ACB), is the governing body for professional and amateur cricket in Australia. It was originally formed in 1905 as the 'Australian Board of Control for International Cricket'. It is incorporated as an Australian Public Company, limited by guarantee. Richard Driver
Richard Driver (junior) (16 September 1829 – 8 July 1880) was a Sydney solicitor, politician and cricket administrator. Driver was born in Cabramatta, New South Wales, son of Richard Driver, hotel-keeper, and his wife Elizabeth, née Powell. In 1859, he became a solicitor for the Sydney City Council and also carried out a practice in the Sydney police court. Driver unsuccessfully contested three seats in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly in 1858 and was defeated again for East Sydney in 1859, but won West Macquarie in 1860 and held it to 1869. He was the member for Carcoar from 1869 to 1872 and Windsor from 1872 to his death in 1880. He generally supported Henry Parkes, but turned down an offer of to be made minister of mines in 1872. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. Kevin Patrick Greene (born 18 October 1958), is an Australian politician, elected as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. He has a Diploma of Education and a Bachelor of Education and was a teacher before running for Parliament. Greene was NSW Minister for Gaming and Racing, Minister for Sport and Recreation, and Minister for Major Events. William Tunks
William Tunks (8 April 1816 – 12 April 1883) was an Australian politician. He was born in the Nepean district to timber merchant John Tunks and Esther Arndell. He was an apprentice carpenter at Parramatta and later the licensee of an inn and a metal contractor. He was the first mayor of St Leonards and was re-elected fifteen times. On 11 December 1838 he married Margaret McCone Bisseck, with whom he had eleven children. In 1864 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for St Leonards, serving until his retirement in 1874. Tunks died at St Leonards in 1883. He was also a cricketer. He played one first-class match for New South Wales in 1855/56. Sydney Olympic Park
Sydney Olympic Park is a suburb of Greater Western Sydney, located 13 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Parramatta Council. It is commonly known as Olympic Park but officially named Sydney Olympic Park. The area was part of the suburb of Lidcombe and known as "North Lidcombe", but between 1989 and 2009 was named " Homebush Bay" (part of which is now the separate suburb of Wentworth Point). Sydney Sixers
The Sydney Sixers are an Australian professional franchise men's cricket team, competing in Australia's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition, the Big Bash League (BBL). Along with the Sydney Thunder, the Sixers are the successors of the New South Wales Blues who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The Sixers play at Sydney Cricket Ground in the south-eastern area of the inner city while the Thunder play out of Sydney Showground Stadium further west.
