Create Project
The Create Project is a web-based community focused on communication and sharing between Free and Open Source Creative applications. Initially the project was created by freedesktop.org as a space for collaboration between free software creative projects, since then the project has become a full sub-project. Create now aims to develop and consolidate shared resources for creative applications. Several community-developed specifications have begun to be developed under the project such as OpenRaster and the Swatches colour file format. Some of the many groups that come together under this project include Blender, GIMP, Inkscape, Scribus, Audacity, Open Clip Art Library, Open Font Library and the Aiki Framework which produce creative content, one of the major ways these groups come together is through the Libre Graphics Meeting which is hosted by the Create Project. Freedesktop
freedesktop.org (fd.o) is a project to work on interoperability and shared base technology for free-software desktop environments for the X Window System (X11) and Wayland on Linux and other Unix-like operating systems. It was founded by Havoc Pennington, a GNOME developer working for Red Hat in March 2000. The project's servers are hosted by Portland State University, sponsored by Hewlett-Packard, Intel, and Google. Widely used open-source X-based desktop projects, such as GNOME, KDE's Plasma Desktop, and Xfce, are collaborating with the freedesktop.org project. In 2006, the project released Portland 1.0 (xdg-utils), a set of common interfaces for desktop environments. GIMP

Inkscape
Inkscape is a free and open-source vector graphics editor used to create vector images, primarily in Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format. Other formats can be imported and exported. Inkscape can render primitive vector shapes (e.g. rectangles, ellipses, polygons, arcs, spirals, stars and 3D boxes) and text. These objects may be filled with solid colors, patterns, radial or linear color gradients and their borders may be stroked, both with adjustable transparency. Embedding and optional tracing of raster graphics is also supported, enabling the editor to create vector graphics from photos and other raster sources. Scribus
Scribus () is free and open-source desktop publishing (DTP) software available for most desktop operating systems. It is designed for layout, typesetting, and preparation of files for professional-quality image-setting equipment. Scribus can also create animated and interactive PDF presentations and forms. Example uses include writing newspapers, brochures, newsletters, posters, and books. The Scribus 1.4 series are the current stable releases, and the 1.5 series where developments are made available in preparation for the next stable release series, version 1.6. Audacity (audio Editor)
Audacity is a free and open-source digital audio editor and recording application software, available for Windows, macOS, Linux, and other Unix-like operating systems. The project was started in the fall of 1999 by Dominic Mazzoni and Roger Dannenberg at Carnegie Mellon University, and released on May 28, 2000, as version 0.8. As of September 22, 2022, Audacity is the most popular download at FossHub, with over 114.1 million downloads since March 2015. It was previously served from Google Code and SourceForge, where it was downloaded over 200 million times. Open Clip Art Library
Openclipart, also called Open Clip Art Library, is an online media repository of free-content vector clip art. The project hosts over 160,000 free graphics and has billed itself as "the largest community of artists making the best free original clipart for you to use for absolutely any reason". The website was brought down for several months by a reported DDoS attack in April 2019; access to the library via other means was still possible, including partial copies of the library that were hosted on several mirror sites. The site's search feature was restored in May 2020. Open Font Library
The Font Library is a project devoted to hosting and encouraging the creation of fonts released under Free Licenses. It is a sister project to Openclipart and hosts over 6000 fonts from over 250 contributors. These are intended to be downloaded, remixed and shared freely. Originally created as an initiative in 2006, the project relaunched on May 12, 2011 at the Libre Graphics Meeting 2011 in Montreal by Fabricatorz developer Christopher Adams. The Open Font Library also hosts a mailing list through which font developers discuss ways to improve libre fonts. The site was started with a deployment of ccHost version 4, and in 2008 Dave Crossland made a funding campaign that raised over US$10,000 from Mozilla, Prince XML, River Valley and TUG to transition to ccHost 5 with a new brand to promote web font linking. Aiki Framework
Aiki Framework is a PHP + MYSQL (LAMP) web application framework that allows designers and programmers to create and work with existing content management systems from the web. The Fabricatorz global production company was its commercial steward and has used it to build Open Clip Art Library 3.0 and the now public Open Font Library. Both sites using Aiki Framework were publicly announced at Libre Graphics Meeting 2011. Status The last release of the software approximately coincided with the March 15, 2012 detainment in Syria of the technology's inventor, Bassel Khartabil. Aiki Framework was for a long time the underlying technology of the Open Clip Art Library and still is for Open Font Library, but the technology was deprecated since 2016 when it was resurrected and put on GitHub. Libre Graphics Meeting
The Libre Graphics Meeting (LGM) is an annual international convention for the discussion of free and open source software used with graphics; The first Libre Graphics Meeting was held in March 2006. Communities from Inkscape, GIMP, Krita, Scribus, sK1, Blender, Open Clip Art Library, Open Font Library, and more come together through the Create Project to assemble this annual conference. It was co-founded by Dave Neary and Dave Odin. SK1 (program)
sK1 is an open-source, cross-platform illustration program that seeks to be a substitute for professional proprietary software like CorelDRAW or Adobe Illustrator. Unique project features are CorelDRAW formats importers, tabbed multiple document interface, Cairo-based engine, and color management. History A small team led by Igor Novikov started the project in 2003, based on the existing open source vector graphics editor Skencil. sK1 is a fork of the Skencil 0.6.x series which used Tk widgets for the user interface (this version had been dropped by the main Skencil developers who were working on a branch of the program based on GTK+). In 2007 the sK1 team reverse-engineered the CorelDRAW (CDR) format.
