Crankdat
Christian Smith (born March 2, 1997), known professionally as Crankdat, is an American DJ and electronic dance music producer. Early life Smith grew up desiring to be an athlete, but ultimately turned down a full-ride track-and-field scholarship to Kent State University to pursue music, producing energetic and melodically vibrant electronic dance music as Crankdat. Smith began making music while still in high school. Career Smith originally gained recognition for remixing other artists' tracks, including Fetty Wap's breakout single, "Trap Queen." Eventually these remixes racked up millions of plays and Smith, barely out of his teens, was getting attention from bigger names in electronic dance music such as Skrillex and The Chainsmokers. Kneel Before Me
"Kneel Before Me" is a song by American DJs Slander and Crankdat, featuring the British rock band Asking Alexandria. It was released on August 9, 2018 by Monstercat and Sumerian Records and was included a week later on the compilation album ''Monstercat Uncaged, Vol. 5''. History In the process of working with Asking Alexandria, Andersen and Land cited the band—among others, such as Avenged Sevenfold, Underoath and Taking Back Sunday—as one of their inspirations. Slander (stylized as SLANDER) is an American DJ duo consisting of Derek Andersen and Scott Land based in Los Angeles. They are best known for their unique sound and subgenre "heaven trap". They attribute most of their success to their close friend Nathaniel Bates, who they say “single handedly gave them the inspiration and confidence to become full time DJ’s”. Early life Andersen and Land met at their fraternity, Kappa Sigma, in University of California, Irvine. They later went to and graduated from Icon Collective, a music production school together with Nghtmre. Andersen said: "My relationship with Tyler (Nghtmre) came out of nowhere when we were put in the same classroom at Icon Collective together." Adventure Club is a Canadian electronic dance music duo composed of Christian Srigley and Leighton James, based out of Montreal, Quebec. The duo began as a hardcore pop-punk band before venturing into electronic dance music in 2011. They are best known for their remixes of "Lullabies" by Yuna and "Crave You" from Flight Facilities. David Lee Crow, better known by his stage name Ghastly, is an American DJ and record producer based in Los Angeles, California and originally from Avondale, Arizona. He has released songs on Owsla, Buygore, and Dim Mak, such as "Miami Connection" with Jauz and "Crank It" with Mija and Lil Jon. Early life David Lee Crow was raised on a goat farm with 260 goats and 650 cows in Buckeye, Arizona. He relocated to Venice Beach, California before finding work as resident DJ at Exchange LA. Monstercat (formerly known as Monstercat Media) is a Canadian independent electronic music record label based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Founded in 2011 by Mike Darlington and Ari Paunonen, the label released music on a tri-weekly basis until 2018, when this was changed to four releases a week. This would later be changed to six releases a week in 2021. Beginning with the release of its first compilation album, ''Monstercat 001 – Launch Week'', the label releases regular compilation albums featuring music from various artists. Sam Vogel, also known by his stage name Jauz ( ), is an American DJ and electronic dance music producer based in San Francisco, United States. He founded his own record label, Bite This, in 2017. Early life Vogel grew up in Northern California. He began playing guitar and producing electronic music on his computer at the age of 15. He went to Icon Collective music production school. He previously went to a film school in Loyola Marymount University where he joined Kappa Sigma before deciding to pursue a musical career, prompting him to enroll in Icon Collective. He is best known for working with various artists managed by Moe Shalizi, such as Marshmello, Ookay and Jauz, and for gaining support from notable musician and Owsla-record label founder Skrillex.
