Craig Sheppard
Craig Douglass Sheppard (born 26 November 1947, Philadelphia) is an American concert pianist and educator of Scots-Irish, English and German descent. Early life and education The son of Jeanne Linton and George Edgar Sheppard, Sheppard was raised in Jenkintown, PA, and graduated Abington High School in 1965. He studied with Eleanor Sokoloff at the Curtis Institute from 1965–68 and Sasha Gorodnitzki at the Juilliard School from 1968–71, graduating from the latter with Bachelor of Music and Master of Science degrees. In 1968, he won the Bronze Medal in the Busoni Competition. In 1972, he won the Silver Medal at the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition, which started his international career. He later won a Bronze Medal in the Dino Ciani Piano Competition (1975). Augustin Hadelich (born April 4, 1984) is an Italian-German-American Grammy-winning classical violinist. Biography Early life and education Augustin Hadelich was born in Cecina, Italy, to German parents. His two older brothers were already playing cello and piano when Hadelich (age 5) began his studies on the violin with his father, an agriculturalist and amateur cellist. In his early musical development, Hadelich progressed in his studies through irregular lessons and masterclasses from violinists traveling near the Hadelich farm in rural Tuscany, including Uto Ughi, Christoph Poppen, Igor Ozim, and Norbert Brainin. Life and career Ehnes was born in Brandon, Manitoba, the son of Alan Ehnes, long time trumpet professor at Brandon University (Canada), and Barbara Withey Ehnes, former ballerina with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Ruth Page's International Ballet, and Chicago Ballet, and former director of the Brandon School of Dance. Ida Haendel, (15 December 19281 July 2020) was a Polish-British-Canadian violinist. Haendel was a child prodigy, her career spanning over seven decades. She also became an influential teacher. Education After violin studies at Oberlin Conservatory, Zinman studied theory and composition at the University of Minnesota, earning his M.A. in 1963.
