Craig Ricci Shaynak
Craig Ricci Shaynak (born July 14, 1969), sometimes credited as Craig Shaynak, is an American character actor. He has been active in Chicago and Los Angeles theater as well as national television and film. Life and career Shaynak was born in Northport, New York. He graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in Medieval Drama in 1991. At university he produced several plays with dramatist David Bevington. Shaynak's first theater production and acting experience after university was in ''The Mystery Cycle'', an American adaptation of a British modernization of the ''Wakefield Cycle The Wakefield or Towneley Mystery Plays are a series of thirty-two mystery plays based on the Bible most likely performed around the Feast of Corpus Christi probably in the town of Wakefield, England during the Late Middle Ages until 1576. Northport is a historic maritime Administrative divisions of New York#Village, village on the northern shore of Long Island in Suffolk County, New York, United States. David Bevington
David Martin Bevington (May 13, 1931 – August 2, 2019) was an American literary scholar. He was the Phyllis Fay Horton Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus in the Humanities and in English Language, English Language & Literature, Comparative Literature, and the college at the University of Chicago, where he taught since 1967, as well as chair of Theatre and Performance Studies. "One of the most learned and devoted of Shakespeareans," so called by Harold Bloom, he specialized in English drama, British drama of the English Renaissance, Renaissance, and edited and introduced the complete works of William Shakespeare in both the 29-volume, Random House, Bantam Classics paperback editions and the single-volume Longman edition. Wakefield Cycle
The Wakefield or Towneley Mystery Plays are a series of thirty-two mystery plays based on the Bible most likely performed around the Feast of Corpus Christi probably in the town of Wakefield, England during the Late Middle Ages until 1576. It is one of only four surviving English mystery play cycles. Some scholars argue that the Wakefield cycle is not a cycle at all, but a mid-sixteenth-century compilation, formed by a scribe bringing together three separate groups of plays. The unique manuscript, now housed at the Huntington Library, San Marino, California, originated in the mid-fifteenth century. The Towneley family who lent their name to the manuscript, sold it at an auction in 1814, but it was probably part of their library at a much earlier date. Although almost the entire manuscript is in a fifteenth-century hand, the cycle was performed as early as the fourteenth century in an earlier form.
