Craig Crowley
Craig Andrew Crowley (born in 1964) is the 8th President of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf, served between 2009 and 2013. Crowley previously served as Trustee of Signature (Accredited Body for British Sign Language Levels) and National Register of Communication Professionals working with Deaf/Deafblind People (NRCPD). Crowley worked as deputy director of Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID)Community & Care Support Services and also had a brief stint as executive director of European Union of the Deaf (EUD) in 2005. Crowley is currently the Chief Executive of one of UK's leading Deaf-led Charity, Action Deafness. Early life As a Deaf child of hearing parents, he was brought up in Northumberland. Signature (charity)
Signature is a United Kingdom national charity and awarding body for deaf communication qualifications. Signature attempts to improve communication between deaf, deafblind and hearing people, whilst creating better communities. Since the charity was formed in 1982, more than 420,000 people have taken a Signature qualification. All Signature qualifications are nationally recognised and accredited by Ofqual (The Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator). They are the largest awarding body in the UK for deaf and deafblind qualifications. Bulmershe College
Bulmershe College was an education institution in the Reading, Berkshire, Reading suburb of Woodley, Berkshire, Woodley, in the English county of Berkshire. Historically, Bulmershe has been the name of a Manorialism, manor and of two quite distinct country houses, one of which still stands but is now known as Bulmershe Manor. Bulmershe College opened for teaching in 1964 but merged with the University of Reading in 1989 to create the Bulmershe Court campus. History Origins Bulmershe first appears in existing records in the 12th century as a place in the parish of Sonning. Deafness has varying definitions in cultural and medical contexts. In medical contexts, the meaning of deafness is hearing loss that precludes a person from understanding spoken language, an audiological condition.
