Craig Brittain
Craig Brittain (born 6 June 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Brittain, was born in Melbourne before moving to Cairns in his youth. He represented Queensland in the Teal Cup and was selected in the Under-18 tournament's "All-Australian" team. Although only 17, he was also a member of Windsor-Zillmere's QAFL premiership team that year. The following season he joined North Melbourne and captained their Under-19s side. He played five senior games in 1984, his third year at the club, but knee problems limited his opportunities. He continued at Windsor-Zillmere when he returned up north and in 1988 he captained the club to another premiership. The side was coached by his brother Wayne, the future Carlton coach. Zillmere Eagles Australian Football Club
Zillmere Eagles Australian Football Club (formerly Windsor-Zillmere, North Brisbane and Northern Eagles) is an Australian rules football club based in the suburb of Zillmere in the northern suburbs of Brisbane. The team plays in the QAFA Division 4. It reformed the senior side in 2013 and it was undefeated all year in the SEQAFL State Div 4 northern competition. Zillmere once competed in the AFL Queensland Australian Football League, where it ceased to play in 2008. The club also fields women's (in the AFL Queensland Women's League) and junior teams. North Melbourne Football Club
The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Founded in the suburb of North Melbourne in 1869 and based at the Arden Street Oval, it is the 4th oldest club in the competition and one of the oldest surviving clubs in the world. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with its inaugural season commencing the following year. The AFL Under-19 Championships (for sponsorship reasons, the NAB AFL Under-19 Championships) is an annual Australian national underage representative championship in Australian rules football tournament. It is seen as one of the main pathways towards being drafted into a team in the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). The National Championships grew out of the Teal Cup which began in 1953 as a junior representative competition between the Australian states of Queensland and New South Wales. The Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL) is an Australian rules football competition organised by the AFL Queensland, contested by clubs from South East Queensland. Wayne Brittain
Wayne Brittain (born 13 June 1958) is a former coach of the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Career Playing career In his playing career, Brittain played for Zillmere Eagles in the Queensland State League. He eventually suffered a back injury which ended his career. Coaching career Brisbane Bears Brittain then took up coaching in 1994 and became an assistant coach of Brisbane Bears under senior coach Robert Walls. The following two seasons with the Bears saw little success, but provided a steep learning curve. The Grogan Medal is an Australian rules football award given to the best and fairest player in home and away rounds of each season's Queensland State League (Australian rules football), QAFL/Queensland State League competition. Ray Sarcevic (born 14 February 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1980s. Sarcevic, recruited from North Geelong, made just four VFL appearances, three of them in 1984 and the other in 1985.
