Cradle To The Grave (album)
''Cradle to the Grave'' is the fourteenth studio album, and the thirteenth album of original material, by British rock band Squeeze. It was released in October 2015 and is their first studio album since 2010's ''Spot the Difference''. It also features their first new songs since their 1998 album ''Domino''. It is the only Squeeze album to feature bassist Lucy Shaw who departed before the band's 2017 album, ''The Knowledge'', which features Yolanda Charles on bass. ''Cradle to the Grave'' debuted at number 12 on the UK Albums Chart, making this the band's highest-charting album excluding hits compilations. Squeeze (band)
Squeeze are an English rock band that came to prominence in the United Kingdom during the new wave period of the late 1970s, and continued recording in the 1980s, 1990s and 2010s. In the UK, their singles " Cool for Cats", "Up the Junction", and " Labelled with Love" were top-ten chart hits; "Pulling Mussels" only made it to 44 in the UK charts. Though not as commercially successful in the United States, Squeeze had American hits with " Tempted", " Black Coffee in Bed", and "Hourglass", and were considered a part of the Second British Invasion. The vast majority of their material is composed of lyrics by Chris Difford and music by Glenn Tilbrook, who are guitarists and vocalists in the band. The duo were hailed as "the heirs to Lennon and McCartney's throne" during the band's initial popularity in the late 1970s. The group formed in Deptford, London, in 1974, and first broke up in 1982. "Harper Valley P.T.A." is a country song written by Tom T. Hall which in 1968 became a major international hit single for country singer Jeannie C. Riley. Riley's record, her debut, sold over six million copies as a single, and it made her the first woman to top both the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and the U.S. Hot Country Singles charts with the same song (but not at the same time), a feat that would not be repeated until Dolly Parton's " 9 to 5" 13 years later in 1981. It was also Riley's only Top 40 pop hit. Mark Feltham (musician)
Mark Feltham (born 20 October 1955, Bermondsey, Southwark, London) is an English musician, best known for his harmonica playing. Feltham is a long-term member of the British rhythm and blues band Nine Below Zero, and Rory Gallagher's band; and is often used as a session musician. In an interview on the ''South Bank Show'' broadcast in 1981, Nine Below Zero guitarist and singer Dennis Greaves noted that Feltham's 'nan' had played the harmonica and his dad bought him his first instrument. Greaves also stated that Feltham had been playing in his bedroom for 11 years, but had given the instrument up for a time before joining Nine Below Zero, his first band. In addition, when he joined he did not know how to play through a microphone or what an amplifier was. Greaves also noted that Feltham studied the music of Little Walter, Charlie McCoy and Junior Wells. John Bentley (musician)
John Bentley (born 16 April 1951 in Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England) is an English bass guitarist. He played bass for the band Squeeze from 1980 to 1982, appearing on the albums '' Argybargy'' and '' East Side Story'', as well as '' Sweets from a Stranger''. Simon Hanson
Simon Hanson is an English drummer, songwriter and producer. He was the former drummer of Death in Vegas and is the current drummer of British band Squeeze (band), Squeeze. Early life Hanson's father and sister both died in a plane crash in 1983. Career In 1985, Hanson formed the band Shot, which was signed by IRS records. However nothing was ever released. He was then spotted by a member of the band The Blessing (rock band), The Blessing and joined them on tours. Together they signed with MCA Records and recorded Locusts and Wild Honey. Jimmy Miller was called in to produce three tracks on the album. Miller was hugely influential on Hanson's work as Miller had been himself a drummer. Stephen Large is an English, London-based keyboard player, composer, arranger, and long-term member of UK band Squeeze. Biography As well as his work with Squeeze, Stephen Large is Musical Director (touring keyboard player and arranger) for Caro Emerald. He was previously Musical Director for pop artists Rebecca Ferguson and Duffy. As a keyboard player, Large has worked with Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott, most recently contributing keyboards for their Number One album ''Manchester Calling''. Kathleen Patricia Brennan (born 1955) is an American musician, songwriter, record producer, and artist. She is known for her work as a co-writer, producer, and influence on the work of her husband Tom Waits. Biography Brennan was born in Cork, Ireland and grew up in Johnsburg, Illinois in the US, after her family moved there when she was young. Brennan and Waits first met in 1978 when Waits made his acting debut in ''Paradise Alley'' while Brennan was a scriptwriter, and then again during production of the Francis Ford Coppola film ''One from the Heart.'' Thomas Alan Waits (born December 7, 1949) is an American musician, composer, songwriter, and actor.
