Cowboy Cavalier
''Cowboy Cavalier'' is a 1948 American Western film directed by Derwin Abrahams and written by Ronald Davidson and J. Benton Cheney. The film stars Jimmy Wakely, Dub Taylor, Jan Bryant, Douglas Evans, Claire Whitney and William Ruhl. The film was released on July 11, 1948, by Monogram Pictures. Plot In the Old West, Mary Croft operates a stage line with the help of her foreman, Jimmy Wakely and his pal, Cannonball. Mary's daughter, Pat, returns to town with newcomer, Lance Regan, to whom she is attracted. Lance tells Mary he was recently a prison guard where he met her friend, Pat Collins, an inmate, who referred him to her for a job. Mary hires Regan as a guard. It is revealed that Regan's actual purpose is to use his job as insider to coordinate stage robberies with his gang. Carol Henry (July 14, 1918 – September 17, 1987) was an American character actor who played the parts of henchmen in Western films and television series throughout the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. He also served as a stunt man in various films although all his work in that field went uncredited. Born in Oklahoma, he appeared in an episode of ''Sergeant Preston of the Yukon'' in 1955 as McClain, a murderer. In 1958 he appeared as a posse member in the TV western ''Tales of Wells Fargo'' in the episode titled "Butch Cassidy." Carol Henry died in North Hollywood, aged 69. Leonard Miles "Bud" Osborne (July 20, 1884 – February 2, 1964) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 600 films and television programs between 1912 and 1963. Biography Osborne was born Miles Osborne in Knox County, Texas, on February 20, 1884. Osborne attended Oklahoma City schools and was a rancher in Oklahoma's Indian Territory before he became an entertainer. After working with the 101 Ranch Show for five years, he worked with Buffalo Bill's Wild West show for one year in 1912. He became a member of Thomas H. Ince's film company in 1915. Osborne specialized in westerns, and was also noted for his skill as a stage driver, and was thus much in demand from his first film in 1912 right through the early 1950s. Buckboard
A buckboard is a four-wheeled wagon of simple construction meant to be drawn by a horse or other large animal. A distinctly American utility vehicle, the buckboard has no springs between the body and the axles. The suspension is provided by the flexible floorboards of the body and a leaf spring under the seat(s). The buckboard has no sideboards on the body, leaving the floor quite mobile. In rough terrain, the floor can flex and "buck", lending the vehicle its name. The buckboard is steered by its front wheels, which are connected by a single axle. The front and rear axle are connected by a platform of one or more boards to which the front axle is connected on a pivoting joint at its midpoint. A buckboard wagon often carries a seat for a driver. Such a seat may be supported by springs. The main platform between axles is not suspended by springs like a carriage.
