Cowan is an unincorporated community in Monroe Township, Delaware County, Indiana. History Cowan was founded in 1869, when the railroad was extended to that point. It was named for Charles McCowan, a longtime resident who donated funds to build a church and school building. Overview The Cowan Street Light Festival was an annual event held in Cowan to raise money to pay for the electricity used by the town's street lights, with most funds raised by selling booths to vendors. Justin Douglas O'Conner (born March 31, 1992) is an American professional baseball catcher for the Rieleros de Aguascalientes of the Mexican League. He was drafted 31st overall in the 2010 Major League Baseball draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. Career Tampa Bay Rays O'Conner attended Cowan High School in Cowan, Indiana. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the first round, 31st overall, of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his professional debut that season with the Gulf Coast Rays. He played in only 48 games for the rookie-level Princeton Rays in 2011 after suffering a torn hip labrum. He played for the Low-A Hudson Valley Renegades in 2012, batting .223/.276/.370 in 59 games. Mid-Eastern Conference
The Mid-Eastern Conference is an IHSAA-sanctioned conference in East Central Indiana. The conference formed in 1963 as schools from Delaware, Henry, and Randolph counties banded together with impending consolidations making their conference situations unstable. The conference has never been stable for long, varying between six and eight members between 1963 and 1977, and having as many as ten members since. While schools from Hancock, Madison and Wayne counties have participated, the conference has generally stayed within its original footprint.
