Courtney Stephen
Courtney Stephen (born October 27, 1989) is a former professional Canadian football defensive back. He played CIS Football for the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks from 2008 to 2009 before transferring and playing for the Northern Illinois Huskies football, Northern Illinois Huskies from 2010 to 2012. He played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 2013 to 2020 for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Calgary Stampeders. Professional career Stephen was drafted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats eighth overall in the 2012 CFL Draft and signed with the team on May 23, 2013. He played for the Tiger-Cats for six years before signing with the Calgary Stampeders on February 14, 2019. Upon becoming a free agent, he re-signed with the Tiger-Cats on February 11, 2020. He signed a contract extension with the Tiger-Cats on December 29, 2020. He retired from football on June 24, 2021. Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks Football Players
Wilfrid ( – 709 or 710) was an English bishop and saint. Born a Northumbrian noble, he entered religious life as a teenager and studied at Lindisfarne, at Canterbury, in Francia, and at Rome; he returned to Northumbria in about 660, and became the abbot of a newly founded monastery at Ripon. In 664 Wilfrid acted as spokesman for the Roman position at the Synod of Whitby, and became famous for his speech advocating that the Roman method for calculating the date of Easter should be adopted. His success prompted the king's son, Alhfrith, to appoint him Bishop of Northumbria. Wilfrid chose to be consecrated in Gaul because of the lack of what he considered to be validly consecrated bishops in England at that time. 2012 CFL Draft
The 2012 CFL Draft took place on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 3:00 PM ET on TSN. 45 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA. The Calgary Stampeders had the most selections with eight, while Hamilton had seven picks. The Toronto Argonauts and Montreal Alouettes each had six and the Edmonton Eskimos and Winnipeg Blue Bombers had five picks. The defending Grey Cup champion BC Lions and the Saskatchewan Roughriders had the fewest selections with just four. A total of three trades involving 11 draft picks in this draft were made on the draft day itself. Of the 45 draft selections, 24 players were drafted from Canadian Interuniversity Sport institutions, which is the lowest percentage of CIS players taken since 2006 (26 of 50, 52%, were selected then). The Northern Illinois Huskies football team are a college football program representing Northern Illinois University (NIU) in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of college football. NIU football plays its home games at Huskie Stadium on the campus of the Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. The Huskies compete in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) as a member of the West Division, where they have won six championships in 1983, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2021.
