County Of Victoria
The County of Victoria is one of the 49 cadastral counties of South Australia. It was proclaimed by Governor Richard MacDonnell in 1857 and probably named for Queen Victoria. It covers an area of the Spencer Gulf coast and hinterland in the Mid North of the state from Port Pirie in the northwest to near Mount Bryan in the southeast, including most of the Broughton River watershed. Gladstone, South Australia
Gladstone (including the former town of Booyoolie) is a small rural town in the Mid North of South Australia in the approach to the lower Flinders Ranges. At the 2006 census, Gladstone had a population of 629. The town services the surrounding district with two pubs, three churches, a bank, post office and several shops and small businesses providing basic goods and services. The closest hospital is 11 km away in a neighbouring rural town, but doctors take appointments in the town's medical clinic. There is a kindergarten (approximately 12 enrollments), state primary school (63), Catholic primary school (60) and a secondary school (approximately 205 students, drawn from the wider district). Gladstone has sporting/social clubs providing for Aussie Rules football, netball, cricket, tennis, golf, lawn bowls, swimming (at the local outdoor pool) and soccer (newly formed for school-aged children), all seasonal. Hundred Of Caltowie
The Hundred of Caltowie is a cadastral unit of hundred in South Australia centred on the township of Caltowie. It is one of the 14 hundreds of the County of Victoria and was proclaimed by Governor James Fergusson in July 1871. Towns and localities The Government Town of Caltowie, slightly to the south of the hundred's centre, which was named for the hundred, was surveyed a few months after the hundred proclamation in November 1871. Adjacent localities of Caltowie West and Caltowie North were officially named as such, based on the long associated names, with reference to their position within the hundred. The only other bounded locality within the hundred is the western flank of Jamestown (that part west of the Mannanarie Hills ridge line) on the eastern side of the hundred. The Hundred of Crystal Brook is a cadastral unit of hundred located in the Mid North of South Australia in the approach to the lower Flinders Ranges. It is one of the hundreds of the County of Victoria and was named by Governor James Fergusson after the stream of the same name which flows east to west near the northern border of the hundred. The town of Crystal Brook and the locality of Merriton are inside the Hundred of Crystal Brook as well as the south half of Nurom and an eastern portion of Wandearah East. The Hundred of Wandearah is a cadastral unit of hundred in South Australia. It is one of the 14 hundreds of the County of Victoria and was proclaimed by Governor Anthony Musgrave in December 1874. Broughton River (South Australia)
The Broughton River is a river in the Australian state of South Australia. Course The river flows from the junction of the Hill River and the Yakillo Creek immediately south of Spalding in a westerly direction towards Spencer Gulf. Its mouth is located in the gazetted locality of Port Davis about north of Port Broughton and south west of Port Pirie. Tributaries of the Broughton include Freshwater Creek, Bundaleer Creek, the Rocky River, Crystal Brook, Yakillo Creek, the Hill River and the Hutt River. The river descends over its course.
