County Of Evelyn, Victoria
The County of Evelyn is one of the 37 counties of Victoria which are part of the cadastral divisions of Australia, used for land titles. It is located to the east of Melbourne, on both sides of the upper reaches of the Yarra River in the Yarra Valley. The Great Dividing Range is the boundary to the north. The county was proclaimed in 1849, and is named after John Evelyn, a famous diarist and gardener. Victoria is a state in southeastern Australia. Victoria Burgoyne (born 3 April 1953) is an English actress. She is known for being a guest actress in the infamously uncompleted 1979 ''Doctor Who'' serial '' Shada'', the making of which was abandoned as the result of a BBC strike. Monbulk is a town in Victoria, Australia, 42 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shire of Yarra Ranges local government area. Linton, Victoria
Linton is a town in Victoria, Australia, off Glenelg Highway. Most of the town is located in Golden Plains Shire; however, a small section is in the Shire of Pyrenees. At the , Linton and the surrounding area had a population of 580. The Clarkesdale Bird Sanctuary lies to the south-east of the township, near Springdallah Creek. History Linton was first settled about 1840 and was named after a pioneer family in an area. Gold was found in 1848 in what later became known as Linton's Diggings. Chinese people, among others, mined the local shafts until the gold ran out. The miners remained in the area and set up market gardens. The Post Office opened on 5 November 1857 as Linton's and was renamed Linton around 1860. Much mining equipment can still be found in the Linton district.
