Brutus is a town in Cayuga County, New York, United States. The population was 4,311 at the 2020 census. It is the most populous town in the county. The name was assigned by a clerk interested in the classics. The town court is located in the village of Weedsport, the largest settlement in the town. The town is located in the eastern part of the county and is west of Syracuse. History Brutus was within the Central New York Military Tract. Genoa is a town in Cayuga County, New York, United States. The population was 1,816 at the 2020 census. The town is named after Genoa in Italy. The town is located in the southwestern corner of the county and is north of Ithaca. Genoa is in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. History The Sullivan Expedition moved through the area in 1779 destroying native villages and stores. Genoa became part of the Central New York Military Tract. The first settlers arrived in 1791. New York State Route 34 (NY 34) is a north–south New York state route located in Central New York. Its southern terminus is at the Pennsylvania state line in the village of Waverly, where it connects to Pennsylvania Route 199 and meets I-86/ NY 17. New York State Route 38 (NY 38) is a north–south state highway in the Finger Lakes region of New York in the United States. Its southern terminus is at an intersection with NY 96 in the town of Owego in Tioga County. The northern terminus is at a junction with NY 104A in the town of Sterling in Cayuga County. Meridian, New York
Meridian is a village in Cayuga County, New York, United States. The population was 309 at the 2010 census. Meridian is near the northern town line of the town of Cato and is west of Syracuse. History The community was settled in 1804. It was once called "Cato Four Corners". Meridian was incorporated as a village in 1854. The Meridian Baptist Church, at the eastern edge of the village, was founded in 1810. The church celebrated the 200th anniversary of its founding for a full year in 2010.
