County Road 136 (Suwannee County, Florida)
State Road 136 (SR 136), locally known as Thunder Road, is a east–west route in Suwannee, Columbia and Hamilton Counties. Its western terminus is just west of Interstate 75 and is a continuation of County Road 136 in rural Suwannee County. Its eastern terminus is US 41 in White Springs. Route description For the most part, SR 136 serves as an access road from Interstate 75 to White Springs. The State Road designation begins west of I-75, where County Road 136 ends. The road then enters Columbia County, travelling about before crossing the Suwannee River into Hamilton County. Upon entering Haminton County (and the city of White Springs), the road is renamed Bridge Street. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is a decentralized agency charged with the establishment, maintenance, and regulation of public transportation in the state of Florida. State Road 93 (SR 93) is the unsigned Florida Department of Transportation designation for most of Interstate 75 (I-75) in Florida. It runs from the Georgia state line to the interchange with the Palmetto Expressway and the Gratigny Parkway in Miami Lakes near the Opa-locka, Florida, Airport. In the Tampa-St. Petersburg area, SR 93 is the hidden FDOT designation of Interstate 275 as it traverses Tampa Bay along the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, crosses Old Tampa Bay on the Howard Frankland Bridge before intersecting with Interstate 4 (unsigned SR 400) at the historical southern terminus of I-75 before continuing northward to rejoin the parent route near Lutz. The State Highway System of the U.S. state of Florida comprises the roads maintained by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) or a toll authority. The components are referred to officially as state roads, abbreviated as SR. History Prior to the 1945 renumbering, State Roads were given numbers in the order they were added to the system. The 1945 renumbering removed many roads that were never built and added some that had not existed prior to 1945. In 1955, the State Road Department (SRD) slowed the addition of new state roads and began to classify roads into primary, secondary, and local roads. Primary roads would continue to be state-maintained, while secondary roads would have an S before the number, and would only be state-maintained during a construction project. Big Shoals State Park in Hamilton County, Florida is a Florida State Park. It is approximately east of White Springs, off US 41. The park is situated on the Suwannee River and features Limestone bluffs as well as the biggest whitewater rapids in all of Florida. Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park is a Florida State Park located in White Springs off U.S. 41, along the Suwannee River in north Florida. Stephen Foster is famous for having written the song "Old Folks At Home," also known as "Way Down Upon the Suwannee River." The song, referring nostalgically to "home far, far away," is Florida's state song. Stephen Foster Museum The Stephen Foster Museum honors the accomplishments of American composer Stephen Foster and features dioramas and exhibits about his famous songs, including ''Old Folks at Home'', more commonly known by the words of its first line as "(Way Down Upon the) Swanee River." State Road 100 (SR 100) is a east–west highway serving northeast Florida. Its western terminus is at the Georgia-Florida border north of Avoca, Florida (its continuation in Georgia is State Route 11); its eastern terminus is an intersection with Shore Scenic Highway ( SR A1A) in Flagler Beach.
